Dell Venue 8 7840, An Intel-Powered Android Tablet With QHD Display Is Now Available From BestBuy For $399

Android-powered tablets are dime a dozen nowadays, a lot of manufacturers make them all over the world, same goes for Android-powered smartphones of course. Dell is doing rather well in the PC Laptop world, but the company is also rather in the Android tablet world as well. The company has released two Android tablets in India back in November, the Venue 7 and 8 tablets. These are mid-range tablet offerings though and we’ve been waiting for the company to step up their game to some extent.

Dell has announced a while back that they’re working with Intel in order to bring forth a high-end Android tablet, well, that tablet is now available from Best Buy and it’s a rather solid machine if I may add. The Dell Venue 8 7840 features an 8.4-inch 2,560 x 1600 OLED display along with 2GB of RAM for all your multitasking needs and 16GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD card). This tablet is powered by Intel’s Atom Z3500 series SoC clocked at 2.3GHz which comes with a PowerVR G6430 GPU for graphics processing. 8-megapixel camera is available at the back of this device and a 2-megapixel snapper is located on the front side of this tablet. As far as connectivity goes, this tablet comes with Wi-FI ac and Bluetooth 4.0 support. Android 4.4 KitKat comes pre-installed here and the device is only 6.4mm thick.

Another interesting thing to mention, is that Intel included their RealSense technology in this tablet, which essentially brings 3D object tracking and depth sensing via two 720p camera located at the back of this tablet, below the 8-megapixel snapper. You can triangulate the distance between objects in your photographs thanks to these cameras and also refocus your images after they’re taken. The tablet looks good, as long as you don’t mind the chin down below, though the bezels on the sides and on the top of the tablet are extremely thin and the device looks really good in my humble opinion, but I believe some of you will disagree.
