Cyanogen: All OnePlus One devices will receive OTA firmware updates, including India

OnePlus-One-feature

A couple of days ago, OnePlus took to their blog to announce that One devices in India would not receive support from Cyanogen due to a deal between Micromax and Cyanogen.

Today Cyanogen published their own blog post in order to clarify misinformation. They pledged that all OnePlus One devices will receive OTA firmware updates. When they say “all” they mean “all.” If you haven’t figured it out yet, this means India devices too.

So this is obviously good news for OnePlus owners in India. Are you rocking a OnePlus One? How do you like it?

Facebook tries to breathe new life into Slingshot with even more Snapchat features

Slingshot Android

Facebook isn’t ready to quit Slingshot, their novel attempt at luring the world’s youth with a Snapchat clone competitor. It’s been about 6 months since we saw Slingshot land on Google Play and after listening to user feedback, the app is seeing an update in the Play Store so big, its creators are calling it “the new Slingshot.”

There’s a lot here that’s new. For starters, the app is ironically more like Snapchat than every before, adopting their “Stories” feature by keeping photos around for 24 hours. There’s also filters (5 in all) along with captions and emojis that can be added to pictures as well as a preview mode to make sure you look your best before slingin’.

The new Slingshot by Facebook

Slingshot’s new tab-based layout makes it easier to navigate inside the app and they even trimmed some of the fat, simplifying the process of sharing a photo/video down to just 2 taps. If you’re like me and don’t have any friends using Slingshot, you can use the Explore button to find randoms already using Slingshot (there aren’t many). If you have a favorite person, you can set it so the app notifies you of their new pictures.

In an effort to keep you using Slingshot versus, say, your regular camera app, everything snapped inside Slingshot can be shared to Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and more. In all seriousness, we love the layout, look, and ease of use of Slingshot over Snapchat. It’s just getting people we know on the service that will prove the biggest challenge.

iOS Favorite RGB Express Is Out On The Play Store, Mixing Snake With Package Delivery

unnamed (6) Imagine if someone remade the Snake game that you remember from your bomb-proof black and white Nokia phone into a puzzle title. It would look something like RGB Express, a low-key game about getting the right package to the right place. Draw out the path of your little truck, make sure it picks up at least one package and drops it off, and don't cross the trail it makes as it goes by.

Google+ v4.8 Tests Out Bandwidth Optimizations, Prepares For A Personalized 2014 Google+ Photo 'Yearbook'

Teardown-GooglePlus

A brand new version of Google+ began rolling out to Android users yesterday, but it didn't initially appear to do much more than tweak a few layouts and change the colors to something more theme-appropriate. During the initial teardown, we also stumbled onto the newly expanded Pinning feature, but Google beat us to the punch. Of course, since the feature is on a staged rollout to users, plenty of people won't see that quite yet.

SNK Playmore releases free version of King of Fighters-A 2012 in the Play Store

KOF-A 2012 2

We’re not sure what prompted the SNK Playmore’s decision to offer a free version of the stellar King of Fighters-A 2012 on Google Play, but we’re certainly not complaining. According to SNK Playmore, it’s to celebrate the games 20th anniversary (already?) but oddly enough, they didn’t simply reduce the price of the original title which has been available for over a year now at $3. Instead, this is a completely separate version that’s just, well, free.

KOF-A 2012 1

Aside from ads now present between menu screens, you’d be hard pressed to find any differences between this and the paid version. You will notice the roster of fighters has been reduced from 34 in the paid version, to 32 for the free. So, exactly who got cut? It seems both classic Kyo and Iori wont be making the transition on over to free, but whether or not that’s worth saving a few bucks is up to you.

Some users have also pointed out that the game doesn’t offer MOGA controller support but whether that is a fluke or intended we can’t be sure. In any case, you can download King of Fighters-A 2012(F) via the link below. Might want to make some room, the install is around 1GB in size.

Sprint’s offer to reduce your bill does the same to data speed

sprint-logo

On Tuesday, Sprint announced a very aggressive approach to bring in new customers from Verizon and AT&T. The carrier said it would reduce bills by half of what the competition charges. It seemed like quite the deal. Why? Sprint will pay a customer’s early termination fee, give unlimited talk and text, and keep the data allowance at half the cost. The problem is that the carrier states within its press release that data speeds are going to be altered due to the influx of users on the network. Sprint is ensuring the network strength is as good as possible by not allowing data hogs to ruin it for everyone else.

In actuality, this promotion from Sprint is expected to save roughly 20% rather than fulfilling its purpose of slashing a bill in half.
