SHIELD Tablet LTE owners in the US who are ready to kick off the holiday weekend have a little something extra to be thankful for this year - their version of NVIDIA's eight-inch tablet is getting Lollipop as of now.
The Wi-Fi version of the tablet started getting the update a little over a week ago, and it was announced at that time that NVIDIA was waiting on carrier approval (probably AT&T) before Android 5.0 could be pushed to the LTE model.
SHIELD Tablet LTE's Android 5.0 Update Rolling Out Now In The U.S. was written by the awesome team at Android Police.
After the Moto 360’s official metal and brown leather bands became available from AT&T earlier this month, they are now (finally) available direct from Motorola. Priced at $30 for the brown Horween leather (stone and black are also available), or $80 for the metal (available in light or dark stainless steel) the official bands are tailor made for the Moto 360, ensuring a 100% perfect fit.
Oddly, the regular (23mm) or slim (18mm) gold metal bands still aren’t available quite yet, but we imagine it wont be too much longer before they pop up. We’ll let you know when they do.

If you hurry, you can snag yourself an unlocked HTC One M8 on eBay for only $370. It’s a refurbished model and the listing isn’t entirely clear on the exact model meaning this could either be the AT&T model that’s been unlocked for use on any network (comes with AT&T bloatware), or it’s the actual unlocked model normally sold through HTC (updates direct from HTC).
In either case, you’ll probably only want to pick this up if you’re already on AT&T customer, as either model will only offer full compatibility with that network (or global GSM bands). The phone ships free out of California and should arrive well before Christmas. You can find the purchase link down below.

While jokes are still being made about the OnePlus One’s invite system, it hasn’t stopped the startup from opening up their very first retail store in China. Revealed earlier this week but not officially opening up shop until December 20th, the store is just the first of a few expected to hit China where it will likely stay. The OnePlus store doesn’t have a robust selection of mobile products to show off — just one: the OnePlus One (along with a few accessories). Still, it’s a pretty big step for a company that barely got off the ground a little over a year ago.
In related news, OnePlus has revealed their latest scheme to offer up Black Friday deals. A new landing page can be found with a countdown timer to Black Friday, and a variety of OnePlus accessories who’s discounts depend on the amount of shares the deal gets on Facebook. Discounts aren’t too deep, but a few can hit 50% off with 500,000 shares. Expect more in the range of 20% if even that.

Privacy concerns are a huge deal these days, mainly because the more connected you are to the internet, the less it seems your data is actually yours. Today, Twitter announced an upcoming change coming soon to their Android and iOS apps that’s raising concerns from privacy advocates The problem? The Twitter app will soon scan devices to see which apps are installed. Phandroid, BuzzFeed, Pornhub — everything will soon be revealed.
According to Twitter’s support page, it’s so Twitter can better serve promoted content (read: ads), suggestions on who to follow, and bring tweets from others to your timeline. Knowing this is a sensitive subject, the social media giant clearly states that no actual data from these apps is being collected, so no harm, no foul, right? Not so fast.
Although a small invasion of privacy (one Android and iOS developers already have access to), app scanning will be on by default and isn’t opt-in. Thankfully, Twitter is allowing users to turn off the app collecting in the app’s settings, and will even notify users once they changes go into effect via an in-app prompt. To turn it off, simply follow these instructions as detailed by Twitter:
Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard are back in action in a Samsung commercial, this time celebrating the holiday season. When we first saw the couple in a Samsung commercial, it was during warmer weather as they showed off their Samsung Galaxy tablets. For this latest edition of life in the Bell/Shepard household, we see several more Samsung products in use as the couple starts early in the morning on a day of holiday decorating. Some of the devices you may spot include the new Galaxy Note Edge, a Galaxy Tab S, a Galaxy Note 4, a Samsung Gear S, and even a curved Samsung television.
You can check out the two minute video after the break although you will probably see bits of it during commercial breaks throughout the holiday television viewing season.

Folks with Nexus devices aren’t the only ones who can begin playing around with Android 5.0 Lollipop. A recognized developer has leaked a test build of the Sprint Samsung Galaxy S5’s Android Lollipop firmware. The goods are flashable via ODIN if you’re brave enough to try it out, though the firmware is not final and does wipe all your data. The developer noted that calling, SMS and other typical functions work just fine, though he hasn’t fully tested all of the device’s sensors.
It sounds like it’d be decent enough to play around with and maybe even as a daily driver, but nothing is guaranteed to work and you obviously take sole responsibility for your phone as a result of anything you do with it.
There’s no word on how far into the retooling process Samsung currently is so what you see here might not be indicative of what we’re to expect once the official rollout begins, but if you want a quick sample then this is as good as it gets. Sprint folks daring enough to give it a go can head to XDA for the download links and instructions.

The concept of themes applied to the interface of an Android device is nothing new as many third-party launchers have supported themes for a long time now. The ability to quickly change the look of a device is a feature that many people enjoy as witnessed by the popularity of third-party launchers along with the host of theme and icon packs available through the Play Store. Based on some new images that surfaced it appears Samsung may have realized they can keep people using their own TouchWiz UI if they add in the ability to load themes.
The source of the images is a beta version of an upcoming update to TouchWiz. Within the settings, users discovered an app called Themes which appears to function in a manner similar to what Sony provides on Xperia devices. Users can select an overlay they want to use and the entire UI is updated based on the selection.
We will have to wait to see if this feature makes it to production and if so, whether it includes other features and settings or the ability to do things like add icon packs.

Lenovo’s A7 tablet offers a solid mid-range option for someone that needs something portable and functional. Today, you can snag one with a couple of accessories for just $100.
The tablet features a 1280 x 800 screen, a quad-core processor, and 8 GB of internal storage for apps and games. Unfortunately, it’s still running Android 4.2, but to compensate this bundle throws in a pair of JBL in-ear headphones and a Samsonite folio case. Not a bad deal, especially for the price.

With the holiday season just around the corner, Google has announced that seven new Android apps are coming to ChromeOS. Available in the Chrome Web Store under “Available for Android,” three of the new apps include Cookpad, CouchSurfing and OverDrive. There are four more but we’re still trying to discern what those are.
Cookpad, as folks will guess, is a recipe app for new and seasonal recipes. Couchsurfing is an app that allows you to find fellow travel enthusiasts (over nine million in 120,000 cities) that you can stay with across the globe. OverDrive allows you to borrow eBooks from your local library in the convenience of your own home. These, and the four other apps they’re adding are available now, with more apps pledged to be added. Of course, if you want to speed up the process for your favorite Android app you can always nominate it here.
That said, what apps are you hoping to see make the leap to ChromeOS?

If you’re in the market for a Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 for the holidays, Staples has a fantastic deal on the 7-inch version of the tablet. It’s on sale for $149 currently, but the promo code 45209 will knock an extra $50 off, effectively bringing the tablet down to half of its original retail price. Plus, you get free shipping.
The tablet isn’t incredibly high end, but for $100, a 1280 x 800 resolution screen with a quad-core processor and Android 4.4 isn’t a bad deal. It’s available in black and white.
