Don’t Miss These Top Android Stories: 7/3/2015

BlackBerry ‘Venice’ Render Leaked, Headed for AT&T

Reports have surfaced numerously this year, pointing to the possibility of BlackBerry releasing an Android device. This morning, the idea became very real, as Evan Blass, once known as evleaks, leaked a press render of Venice, BlackBerry’s device running Google’s mobile OS and complete suite of apps. 

As we can see in the render, the device looks rather elegant, featuring a rounded front display, complete with microUSB, headphone jack, and good-sized speaker. As a kicker, though, the display can slide up, revealing a full keyboard for those who need one. Venice seems to be the perfect blend of modern design and a throwback to when BlackBerry ruled the world of smart devices.

According to Evan, the Venice will be hitting AT&T’s network, but there is no timeframe for the release.

As shown in the render, the device looks to be running all of Google’s applications, meaning the device will likely have access to Google Play. For potential buyers, this is a good thing. When more info is made available, we will update you.

The Droid Life Show: Episode 86

Today is a holiday for many, but we still wanted to get together for a quick DL Show before you all head into the long weekend. This is episode 86, an episode that will run through the recent drama between T-Mobile and Sprint, their lease programs, all of the Lollipop updates from Motorola that finally began rolling out, what may be the new Google Glass, the latest on the OnePlus 2, the newest apps, and more.

HTC Pulls Out the Old “Blind Test” in Latest Ads, and HTC Wins Every Time!

I know that most of you are all off observing freedom, but we have marketing news to report. Yes, marketing news! HTC is back doing commercials to promote phones, though this time, Robert Downey Jr. isn’t involved and on the set of something where he clearly would rather be doing something other than promoting HTC products. This time, it’s all about the blind tests. Oh boy, because blind testing is always a go-to when every single other marketing attempt you imagined failed miserably.

So how’d it all go? If you guessed that HTC wins every time, you guessed right! 

First up, we have the speed tests. Get your timers ready!

And then…”Oh! Oh, baby!”
