Deal: Bluetooth Beanie and Touchscreen Glove Bundle Just $34.99

It’s starting to cool off in most of the country as we approach winter, but that shouldn’t mean you need to disconnect from your phone or music while on the go because of the need to wear gloves or a hat. Thanks to a deal in the DL Deals Store, you can not only keep that head and those hands warm, but you can do so while staying a fully capable tech junkie.

The deal is for a beanie and gloves bundle, where the beanie is Bluetooth equipped from the folks at TRNDlabs and the gloves have touchscreen compatible fingertips, along with a gripping material to prevent phone slips.

The beanie is a classic black beanie, but inside you get speakers built-in where it would sit over your ears for listening to music or taking calls. It also has simple controls, 33-foot connectivity, and 60-hour standby time or 6 hours of continuous use. The gloves are double-layered and should help keep those tips warm throughout the next few months.

The deal is only live for another couple of hours, so act fast.

3 Android Games Worth Owning: Lara Croft GO, Shooty Skies, and Trivia Crack Kingdoms

There are a ton of new app and game titles on Google Play, and in case you may have missed a few of the good ones, we present you with 3 Android Games Worth Owning. On Google Play, it is sometimes hard to cut through the clutter, read through reviews, and test games yourself, so allow us to do the hard work for you.

In this post, we highlight three of my latest favorite games available on Google Play – Lara Croft GO, Shooty Skies, and Trivia Crack Kingdoms. Each are in entirely different genres, so there should be something for everyone in this list.

Check out our new list of 3 Android games worth owning.

Lara Croft GO

Given the success of Hitman GO, it was only a matter of time until Square Enix came back with yet another GO title. Incredibly enough, they chose Lara Croft to base a game off of, and it was an excellent choice in my opinion. The GO series of games is a single turn-based game, having you navigate through puzzle-like levels where the wrong step can lead to death and restarting of a level.

In Lara Croft GO, you traverse through jungles, catacombs, and caves to discover the mystery surrounding the Queen of Venom. Yes, it sounds epic, and it totally is epic. Featuring 75 puzzles across 5 different chapters, you must lead Lara to safety through treacherous levels, while also collecting relics and unlocking new outfits for her.

Today only, thanks to a flash sale, you can grab Lara Croft GO for just $1.99. Regularly, it is priced at $4.99. Go get it!

Shooty Skies

From the makers of Crossy Road comes Shooty Skies, another game that aims to have you completely addicted in no time at all. Usually, I enjoy games with a bit more depth, but I love the feeling of flying through the skies as an adorable squirrel, shooting up anything getting in my way.

To get started, you take off in a little prop engine plane, moving your finger from left to right to blow up enemies. As you progress, without getting hit, you collect power-ups to make your weapons stronger. It’s not an original concept, as it has been done thousands of times before, but the graphics are quite good and the gameplay is fun. As you tear threw baddies, you collect coins to help unlock additional planes and outfits.

The game is free to download from Google Play.

Trivia Crack Kingdoms

My family and friends can’t get enough of Trivia Crack. We would always have epic duels of knowledge on this game, and thankfully, the creators decided a sequel was in order. Trivia Crack Kingdoms keeps the trivia essence of the first title, but brings in additional features such as an entire social aspect.

Much like Quiz Up, the new version of Trivia Crack has you challenge friends in select topics of interest. For example, if your friend is a real smarty pants at baseball, you can challenge them. It’s all in good fun, but beware if you spank them, as they may not be so friendly afterwards.

Trivia Crack Kingdoms is completely free to download and play.

Yep, Verizon is Raising Your Unlimited Data Plan by $20 Per Month

Back at the beginning of October, sources of ours (which Verizon confirmed) informed us that unlimited data plans on Verizon would see a $20 per month price hike starting November 15. A whole bunch of you saw our report, along with the follow-up we did with additional details on who it affected, and came away (rightfully) pissed off. However, it has become clear to us within the past week that not everyone saw it, because our inbox has been pinged multiple times per day with freshly angered Verizon customers who are just now learning about the increase on the way to their monthly bill.

It appears as if Verizon started notifying unlimited data plan subscribers at the beginning of November by welcoming them to their online account page with a pop-up, a pop-up that we have included at the top of this post. As you can see, it does indeed say that on November 15, they are increasing unlimited data feature pricing by $20 per month for those not currently in a 2-year contract.

Keep in mind that this increase does not affect you if you are currently under contract or enter into a new one. That’s right, there is a way to avoid the increase! If you can find an unlimited-data-keeping work-around that still works that will lock you into another 2-year contract, now would be the time to do it. Here are some examples of the types of tricks you can do to keep unlimited data at Verizon while upgrading.

Long story short – yes, Verizon is upping your unlimited data plan pricing to $49.99 per month, which is a $20 increase of the $29.99 you have paid since the beginning of time.

You have 6 days to figure out a way to avoid that increase.

Qualcomm to Debut the Snapdragon 820 Tomorrow, Said to be Beating OEM Thermal Requirements

Tomorrow, Qualcomm will debut the Snapdragon 820 processor, the chip that is likely to handle computing duties in a few top-tier flagship devices in 2016. While many details are still relatively unknown regarding the application processor, one of Qualcomm’s marketing leads states on Twitter that the chip currently meets and even beats OEM thermal requirements, not that Qualcomm’s Snapdragon lineup has ever had overheating issues before.

It is reported that the next Galaxy devices from Samsung will run the Snapdragon 820, as well as other devices from HTC and possibly LG. While all of that is just rumor at this point, it is probably a safe bet that the Snapdragon 820 will indeed be fast and more than capable of handling your mobile apps and games.

Once the processor is official, we will post all of the details.

Fingers crossed for no melted faces.

Nexus 6P and 5X Owners, Thoughts on Your New Phone?

Many of you recently bought the Nexus 6P or 5X, according to this poll of ours. I can’t say that I can find any fault in those purchase decisions either, since Tim and I each left mostly glowing reviews of each, the Nexus 6P review in particular. In fact, the 6P may be the phone of the year. But because this here Droid Life community benefits when its readers get to share their opinions as well, we want to do that today.

In the comments, we are opening up for conversation about your early thoughts with either phone. We want to know if you love, like, or hate your new phone. We want to know specifics on favorite features, reports on battery life, and what you think of these new 12.3MP cameras that Google is using. We want to know which color, storage size, etc., you chose because I’m sure there are others contemplating all of these things. We want to know if you had 5X performance issues like I did, or if your 6P bends or has seen its rear-window crack. We want to know it all.

Ready? Go!

In 2 Years, TAG Heuer Will Let You Trade in the Connected for a Mechanical Carrera Watch

TAG Heuer’s first smartwatch, the Connected, is official and available for purchase at $1,500 both online and in select boutiques. For days to come, I’m sure people will debate whether or not that price is either ridiculous (in many ways it is) or makes some sense (it is a product coming from a luxury Swiss watchmaker), but as those conversations happen, you should know about the somewhat-intriguing trade in program that TAG Heuer is doing with this watch.

You see, TAG Heuer understands that in a couple of years (2 to be exact), this smartwatch will be outdated. There is no getting around that fact. Technology changes quickly and TAG is well aware of that. So, with that in mind, TAG Heuer is giving Connected owners a chance to swap out their watch at the end of its 2-year warranty period for a mechanical watch (TAG Carrera to be exact), assuming they are interested and care to pay an additional $1,500.

I’m sure you have done the simple math there and realized that the total investment is $3,000 when all is said and done. Is that worth it? Eh, tough to say.

On one hand, you have to invest $1,500 in a smartwatch that you may or may not get sick of within a 2-year period. Then, at the end of that 2-year period, you get to decide if you like TAG Heuer’s watches enough to fork out another $1,500 to get rid of your dated smartwatch (because you will trade it in) and into a mechanical, Carrera. For reference, a pretty standard TAG Carrera GMT with automatic movement and date, runs about $3,000. TAG hasn’t said what watch they’ll let you upgrade to, though.

If you are into luxury watches and like TAG Heuer, then this could be something to consider. But again, you have to be into $3,000 watches made by TAG Heuer.

Here is the $1,500 TAG Heuer Connected Smartwatch (Updated)

TAG Heuer announced its first smartwatch this morning and it is indeed called the TAG Heuer Connected. Made in partnership with Google and Intel, this is the first time we have seen a Swiss watchmaker take on the smartwatch category.

The watch has the smarts of Android Wear, which you knew, since it was built as an Android Wear device. But as a luxury watch, it has a titanium case, “signature” strap that comes in seven different colors, and a high-resolution, “transflective” sapphire glass display. It also features a bunch of TAG Heuer dials or watch faces, so you can make this look like a normal TAG watch.

Edit:  Here are more specs. The Connected has a 1.5-inch circular LCD display (360×360, 240ppi) with sapphire crystal, 46mm Titanium Grade 2 case that is 12.8mm thick, IP67 water resistance, vulcanized rubber strap, 410mAh battery, 1.6GHz dual-core Intel processor, 1GB RAM, 4GB storage, Bluetooth 4.1, and WiFi.

The press event is still going right now and no one has mentioned price ($1,500 is the latest rumor), (Edit:  It is Indeed $1,500) only that it will be available today in 20 select boutiques. We’ll update this as we have more.

TAG Heuer Connected

Update: Here is a video with some specs and an overview of the “journey.”

Update 2:  At noon Eastern, you should be able to buy the watch at TAG’s site or select boutiques. Here is a direct link to the Connected on TAG’s site.

Update 3:  In some of the first conversations TAG Heuer made public about the Connected, they talked about it being upgradable over time on some level. They briefly talked about that today, saying that the Connected comes with a 2-year warranty. At the end of that 2-year period, when the watch is likely outdated and about to die, because that’s how technology like this works, you can trade it in, pay another $1,500, and they will give you a traditional TAG Carrera watch, which probably carries around a $3,000+ price tag at retail. We are looking for more details on this and will update as we have them.

TAG Heuer’s $1,800 Connected Watch Arrives This Morning, Watch the Event Live

TAG Heuer will unveil its first smartwatch this morning, the Connected or Carrera Connected. This is the first time we have seen a Swiss luxury watch brand take on the smartwatch category in any sort of meaningful way, so even if you don’t care to spend as much as $1,800 for this particular piece, it’s probably still worth at least paying attention to. Who knows, maybe TAG Heuer can figure out why anyone really needs a smartwatch

We don’t know much about this watch, only that it will be shown off for the first time today, at 11AM Eastern (8AM Pacific), runs Android Wear, and is powered by an Intel chipset. It’ll carry a price tag of anywhere from $1,400 to $1,800, but could end up at $1,500 with a launch date of November 12. It also may have 40-hour battery life, which is about the current standard, I’d say.

Again, this isn’t going to be a watch for everyone, but this is the first time (unless you count Fossil) a true watchmaker has taken on the smartwatch category. I, for one, will be paying close attention.

We’ve attempted to embed the live stream below should you be interested in watching with us. If for some reason the embed doesn’t work, you can watch it at TAG Heuer’s site as well.
