Action Launcher 3 now available in the Play Store
Last week developer Chris Lacy took to Google+ to announce the forthcoming release of an update for his Android Launcher. As part of that announcement, Lacy made it known that the app would be a paid app due to the extensive overhaul he gave the launcher. Along with the release of Action Launcher 3, the predecessor Action Launcher 2 is being re-released as a paid app for new users. The apps are now available in the Google Play Store for anyone interested in giving them a try.
The new Action Launcher 3 is described as a fusion of Action Launcher 2 features, Google Now, and Material Design. Action Launcher 3 incorporates features like Covers, a new take on folders; Shutters, a new way to launch widgets; and Quicktheme, which gives users the ability to quickly customize the theme based on a user’s wallpaper.
Action Launcher 3 is able to import themes from other launchers and comes with full tablet support. If you want to try Action Launcher 3, you can load it up using one of the download links below for a free trial period.

Uber Allegedly Sending Out Spam Text Messages To Drivers And Customers
Uber just can’t seem to stay out of the press in a negative light. Just recently they were being sued over a driver in India that had allegedly raped a passenger, and even more recently news broke that they were being sued by multiple citities(for different reasons of course)including San Francisco, and by the city of Portland, Oregon for operating illegally after they were told by city officials they didn’t have approval to do so. The recent and latest news regarding Uber is that they’re apparently flooding people with text messages, drivers and customers included, according to Motherboard.
If there’s one thing people really hate when it comes to text messages, it’s spam. That seems to be exactly what Uber is doing to tons of individuals, spamming their inboxes with messages either regarding interest in a driver position or general promotion. The messages are said to be going to drivers, the friends of drivers, and customers, with one individual claiming they had received around 42 text messages from Uber within a two week period. According to the source and an Uber spokesperson, Uber themselves are not necessarily sending these messages out, rather drivers who work for Uber are sending them out to try and promote the business. It’s customary to receive a text message when your Uber ride arrives, and we completely understand that Uber may send out text messages to interested parties who may have at one point been looking to get hired on with Uber, but there is a fine line between promotion and aggressive tactics that will only alienate your potential employees and customers
One person states that they were once interested in an Uber job, but had decided to stop pursuing the position because they would no longer have access to the vehicle they would be using to operate. Even though they had sent out repeated attempts to stop the receipt of messages, they apparently still continued to flow in. Complaints are said to have been filed with the FTC reaching a total of 53 unique complaints, 14 of them being termed as “unsolicited spam.” Not all the complaints have been verified either, but it would definitely appear that this is a real issue that people are having. Google Play Movies And TV Gets Updated With In-App Screen Pinning – APK Download
Google Play Movies and TV is the next app on the list today receiving an update from Google, bringing it forward to version 3.6, which brings in some slight visual changes as well as a couple changes that make it easier to see things in a more organized format. Earlier we reported on the update that came to Google Fit, and we might see another app or two get an update before the day is done. This new update Google Play Movies and TV is not the Material Design UI update, as that had already happened. If this is the first time you’ll be updating the app since that time however it will be the first time you’ll be seeing any of those visual style changes. This was the case for me personally as I haven’t opened the app for a couple of months.
Inside you’ll immediately notice all the Material Design styling, with bold colors and fluid animations that greet you on the opening welcome screen. More notably though what actually came out in this update is a more organized categorization for the manage my downloads list, which separates things out into My Movies and My TV instead of having all your downloads lumped into one list. If you’re someone that uses this app on the daily or at least more frequently, this should definitely help when you go to manage your downloads in finding exactly which movie or TV show you’re looking for.
Google Play Movies and TV also now highlights how much storage you have remaining on your device, much like you would see if you went into storage settings, with a bar located at the top of the application that also alerts you to how much storage space is being used by the videos you’re downloading. There is also the introduction of screen pinning within Play Movies and TV, so if you’re already watching something using the application, like say, Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy, you can’t accidentally back out of the movie during viewing, which I hate to say has happened to me on more than one occasion. This will be useful to have, although screen pinning is a Lollipop feature so you’ll need to be on that version of the OS to use it. If you don’t want to wait for Play Movies and TV to update through the Play Store on its own, you can grab the apk file here and install it now. Google Updates The Google Fit App With Plenty Of New Trackable Activities – APK Download
Google has taken a more focused approach to health with the new Google Fit application that they unveiled at Google I/O at the end of June 2014, and they have steadily been updating the app with new features. The latest update which may already be live in the Play Store for some has touched down and we have the apk file for you to download for you. If you use Google Fit already you probably know that it’s a great little application one can use to somewhat consolidate all their health app information and data in one easy to use and easy to access location.
The app is pretty simple in terms of what it does compared to some of the other health oriented apps from the likes of Samsung, LG, Sony and others, by simply displaying tracking stats should you want to give them a glance. It provides a comprehensive view of your fitness, allowing you to connect to other third-party fitness apps through Google Fit, and alongside displaying all your fitness data in one spot, it can also help you reach your fitness goals, and track some of your fitness data with an user friendly approach. Just recently Google update Google Fit to version 1.51, and with the update come along some performance improvements and bug fixes, pretty standard of a Google app update. It also updated with 101 new fitness activities for you to track within the app, which you can manually enter.
There is also now a direct fix related to Android Wear in which there is a bug that affects the steps counted when a watch and a phone disconnect and try to re-connect. Android Police lists this as an experimental fix so we’re not sure if this completely fixes the issue for anyone. I also am not personally having this problem, so I can’t speak to how bad it actually is. As far as the new activities you can manually enter and track, there is a fairly large list. We’ll list a few of them here, but you can check the screenshot below for the full list of included new activities. Some of the new activities you can manually enter include Aerobics, Australian Football, Backcountry Skiing, Badminton, Baseball, Basketball, Beach Volleyball, Biathlon, Boxing, ZumbA, Yoga, Calisthenics, Windsurfing, Circuit Training, Wheelchair and weigh Lifting.
