WordPress app revamped with Material Design
The Android application for WordPress has been rebuilt from the ground up. Now, the app’s user interface is based on Material Design for Android 5.0 Lollipop. The entire color scheme of the app is very blue and WordPress debuted new icons. The button to compose a new post (seen above) is identical to what Gmail, Google+, and other stock apps have. Furthermore, WordPress has a new grid layout for the Media section. This means that it is much easier to see all of the saved media on a site. And comments can be auto-completed when typing the name of another user on the site.
Here is what WordPress says is included with the version 3.5 update:
- Material redesign and overall redesign (round avatars, new icons, color scheme update)
- Mentions auto-completion in comments (start typing “@username” for the username of another user on your blog, within a comment area)
- New grid layout for Media Library on tablets
- Fetch blog visibility status on first login
- Bug fixes

CES 2015: Hands On With Hyundai Blue Link Remote Voice Control Via Android Auto And Android Wear
This week at CES 2015, Hyundai showed off their next generation Blue Link technology with the voice controlled remote feature, allowing you to control various things in compatible Hyundai vehicles all with the sound of your voice via your Android Wear smartwatch. Technology really has come a long way, giving us the stuff of movies to play with in real life. Think James Bond controlling his car through his watch. Hyundai is going to debut this feature on the 2016 Elantra GT and Veloster models, so it will be a tad bit limited at the start but if it takes off expect it to hit more vehicles as time goes on and likely become more standard. Through the Blue Link tech built into the upcoming 2016 vehicles, and after one installs the companion app to their Android Wear device of choice, consumers can then execute voice commands for things like locking and unlocking their car doors, remote starting the engine, and even finding their car if they’ve lost it in the madness that parking structures sometimes become. All in all, it’s shaping up to be a pretty compelling and cool feature. We can’t wait to see this hit the streets! Check out our images from CES below! HTC One M8 To Receive Android 5.0 Lollipop Within The Next One To Two Weeks
Since Google unveiled Android 5.0 (Lollipop) the pressure has been on manufacturers (and carriers to some extent) to make sure Lollipop is pushed out to their respective devices. Although, there is pressure on the OEMs to push Lollipop to all their devices, it is the flagship devices that grab all the attention. In HTC’s case, this is the HTC One M8. HTC (like the other big OEMs) all were quick to jump on the bandwagon saying that they will begin to offer Lollipop within three months (ninety days) for their flagship devices. Since this announcement, the HTC One M8 crowd have been waiting patiently.
That said, HTC have not been quiet on the subject and over the last couple of weeks and months we have seen a number of reports coming through. Back at the start of December it was reported that the HTC One M8 GPe had begun to see Lollipop rolling out. Being a GPs device you would expect this to be the first of the HTC One M8 family to see the update. However, this fuelled speculation that the update was very soon coming. Following on from this, in the middle of December we began to hear rumored reports that Lollipop would arrive in ‘early January’. This was again followed (about a week later) with reports (well screenshots actually) of Lollipop running on a HTC One M8.
Well, as we speak, we are currently in ‘early January’ and if you are a One M8 owner then you will probably want an update on the situation. This morning, known developer and recognized HTC tipster LlabTooFeR had tweeted that the One M8 will begin receiving Lollipop in the next one to two weeks. According to LlabTooFeR (source link below), this news comes from the ‘HTC Kitchen’ and is in regards to the “Final M8 Android L”. Of course, some One M8 owners might see this as a further delay from the already rumored ‘early January’ suggestion that we saw a month ago. Either way though, it does seem Lollipop on the HTC One M8 is very close to dropping.

This $300 Mad Catz mobile gaming controller looks like it could kill someone [VIDEO]
If you were to pull one of these things out of your back pocket I might be compelled to call the police on you. Sitting over at Mad Catz’ booth at CES 2015 was a $300 mobile gaming controller — dubbed the L.Y.N.X. 9 — that looks like a prop extra straight off the set of Transformers or Terminator.
This thing will cradle a smartphone or wrap itself around a tablet and equip you with a mobile gaming controller seemingly worthy of its lofty price tag. You can use it as an ordinary controller if you wish, but it’s modular and flexible enough to transform into a controller that can fit any need or situation.
The device, which is made of metal, can be extended via the use of optional components like a QWERTY keyboard, and it even has a microphone built in. Why? We’re not sure, but it’s there. You’ll get all the traditional buttons you’ve come to expect from a gaming controller, including dual analog sticks, a full suite of face buttons, shoulder buttons and a directional pad.
The best part is you won’t have to wait long to grab one of these if you aren’t deathly afraid of it attacking you in your sleep — it’s available to purchase in the United States right now from Mad Catz’ website. Be sure to take a good look at it in our video up above.

CES 2015: Hands On With The Yale YRD340 Keyless Entry Smart Lock
We’ve covered our fair share of news on home automation, so we were pretty excited when we got to check out some of the smart home products from Yale, a company that specializes in home locks, and more specifically today during CES 2015 we were able to get some hands on images of the Yale YRD340 Keyless Entry Deadbolt smart lock. To put it simply, you can unlock your front door through NFC with this lock. As long as everything is configured which doesn’t take much to do thanks to the companion app for this device, you can walk right up to your door and tap the back of your smartphone to the lock and inside you go. It also allows you to create digital keys to hand out to family and friends so they too can unlock the door with just a simple tap of their NFC enabled device. Cool right? These aren’t available quite yet but you can already pre-order them for about $249.99. Check out the image we got from the event below!
