Now that the weekend is over, it is time to put the games away and get back to work. Best Buy has the LG G Watch on sale for $159.99, which is a substantial savings over normal price, and something for you to mull over this Monday morning.
Although there are a few things in the pipeline that could lead to a price drop across the board for LG’s first Android Wear powered smartwatch, we were not expecting this level of savings, nor the $149.99 price this past weekend, just yet for the G Watch.
What’s in the pipeline, you ask? Well, LG has a new smartwatch due to hit stores this month, the LG G Watch R is to pack the same basic internals, but bring a pleasant round display to the LG line. This is not a completely round watch, mind you, but the rectangular shaped base is the perfect trade-off, in my mind, to the flat tire of the Moto 360, aesthetically speaking.
Also on deck will be a major update to Android Wear, coming this week(?) alongside Android L, but that should not trigger a price drop for the G Watch – unless the G Watch is already known to be incapable of receiving the update, in which case $160 may not be cheap enough.
Rampant speculation aside, the LG G Watch is a 2.2-inch display rectangular smartwatch. It runs Android Wear, connects via Bluetooth to your Android 4.3+ smartphone, has 4GB of internal memory and is powered by a 400mAh battery behind a snapdragon 400 SoC and 512MB of RAM.
Head on over to the Best Buy website to check out the least expensive Android Wear device on the market today.
For those that did not bite at the $179 price point, is another $20 off enough for you, or will you wait to touch the G Watch R before making a decision?
