First image of the HTC One Mini 2 leaks
The ever resourceful @evleaks just supplied us with the first credible image of the upcoming HTC One Mini 2. And yes, HTC One Mini 2 will likely be the official name of the device, common sense be damned.
Just like with the 2013 One Mini, HTC is repurposing the design of the flagship One, down to the three available color options, gun metal, silver, and gold. While the plastic rim around the device is still present, it’s much less visible then on last year’s compact One version. Other notable changes include the different arrangement of the front sensors and the rounded speaker grills.
We don’t have any details on the specifications of the HTC One Mini 2, but the image above suggests that the screen size may be larger than the 4.3 inches of the 2013 One Mini. There’s no depth sensor on the device, so it’s very likely HTC opted for a conventional 8MP sensor for the camera.
No clues yet about the release date or price of the One Mini 2.

Top 6 Android stories this week: Android Silver, LG G3, and Apple’s token victory
This week in your world of Android: the LG G3 leaked, the Galaxy S5 Prime’s release was pegged for June, Android Silver news broke, Google released new productivity apps, the first image of Amazon’s smartphone leaked, and the verdict in the Apple vs Samsung trial was announced.
These are the essential stories, the summary of an entire week in just a few words. It’s Android Weekly.
This is the LG G3, due May 27
LG sent out invitations for a May 27 event, and we’re positive we’ll finally get to see the G3 at that point. To help pass the time, here are some leaked images of the device.
- LG to launch the G3, the last big flagship of the season, on May 27
- Leaked image of LG G3 rear gives us a look at redesigned back-mounted buttons
- Alleged LG G3 leaked images show thin bezels, plastic build
Galaxy S5 “Prime” rumored for June
Another unconfirmed report pegs the launch of the long-rumored premium version of the Galaxy S5 for June. Rumor has it we’ll see a Quad HD display and a Snapdragon 805 processor, and possibly, an all-new design.
Android Silver means no more Nexus?
A solid report claims Google is planning to replace its Nexus line with high-end devices from several manufacturers that will feature a near-stock interface. This initiative is called Android Silver and will reportedly launch next year.
Google app updates
In an interesting move, Google this week launched new standalone apps for Docs, Sheets, and Slides, effectively reversing their integration into Drive. The company also updated Search so Google Now can now tell you where you parked, and pushed smaller updates to some other apps.
- Google Search now knows where you parked, might sound cooler than it really is
- Google launches standalone Docs, Sheets, and Slides apps for Android
- You can now edit and share playlists on Google Play Music
Is this the Amazon phone?
We knew it was coming for months, but this week we got the first (alleged) look at Amazon’s first smartphone.
Apple wins a token victory
Sure, $120 million is no pocket change, but we’re pretty sure nobody’s celebrating in Cupertino following the verdict in the Apple vs Samsung case. Apple got a mere 5% of what it demanded, and worse, its legal war proved ineffective in stopping Samsung and other Android manufacturers.
What was the biggest Android story this week?
