Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G and Mi 4 Now Selling in Retail Stores in India

AH -7 Xiaomi Mi4 Chris 7 logo

Xiaomi has just officially announced that their two latest smartphones the Note 4G and the Mi 4 will launch in retail stores as of now. Unfortunately at this point, the smartphones are going to be only available in limited quantities as well as very limited locations. In Delhi NCR, the retail chain The Mobile Store is reportedly receiving limited inventory at select locations for sales for a Saturday launch. In terms of physical locations to purchase the two handsets, The Mobile Store appears to be the exclusive sales outlet for Xiaomi at least for the initial launch in India.

The Xiaomi Mi 4 is powered by the quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 mobile processor capable of reaching clock speeds of 2.5 GHz. To compliment this processing power, the Mi 4 will also include a plentiful 3 GB of RAM for smooth multitasking. As for internal storage, the phone will be available in two variants offering up 16 GB or 64 GB. The front of the device will feature a 5 inch, full high-definition 1920 x 1080 resolution JDI OGS fully laminated display. The rear of the device will bear a 13-megapixel camera while the front facing camera will be 8-megapixels. All of this more than capable hardware will run off of a 3080 mAh battery. Lastly, the software running on the Mi 4 will be Android 4.4 KitKat layered under the company’s personalized MIUI 6 skin.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G is coming in hot towards the mid-range smartphone market with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 mobile processor. While a modest chip in comparison with the Snapdragon 801, it is still quite capable with four cores capable of speeds up to 1.6 GHz. The Redmi Note 4G will also ship with a slightly more modest 2 GB of RAM. As for the display, the handset is an entirely different beast with a 5.5 inch 1280 x 720 resolution IPS LCD panel. For photography the handset will feature a 13 megapixel again on the backside, while on the front a more modest 5 megapixel shooter rests. There is only one version of the Redmi Note 4G shipping which will include 8 GB of internal storage although there is a microSD card slot for expansion included. Lastly, the phone will ship running Android 4.4.2 KitKat with MIUI v5 on a slightly larger 3100 mAh battery.

With both of these smartphones launching side by side, it would appear Xiaomi is really attempting to tackle the market on all fronts. With a high-end flagship phone and a mid-range handset launching simultaneously, potential buyers from both sides of the spectrum will have a phone to choose from. The Mi 4 will launch selling for Rs. 19,999 which is approximately $320 and the Redmi Note 4G will retail for Rs. 9,999 which is approximately $160.

LG Watch Urbane Launching April 27

LG is planning on making its third step into the world of smartwatches with the LG G Watch Urbane. The watch is a bit more sophisticated than the stunning G Watch R, and is more suited for normal wear as opposed to active wear.

The new design is polished and refined, with dust and water resistance included. Under the hood, the internals are identical to the G Watch R, so you can expect a half gig of RAM, a Snapdragon 400, and a 410 mAh battery.

According to Clove, you can expect to see the G Watch to be released April 27th for about 225 GBP, or near $335. Anyone who has a device running Android 4.3 can use the Android Wear-powered watch, so if that’s you, keep an eye out on TalkAndroid.com for more updates on when and where you can get an LG G Watch Urbane.

[Weekend Poll] Will You Buy A Galaxy S6, HTC One M9, Or Neither?

image

This weekend's poll is a flagship battle bonanza: with both the Galaxy S6 and HTC One M9 set to launch in many countries in a mere matter of days, we want to know which one you'll be buying. I know, most of you will be purchasing neither, but we want to hear from those that are, too, to see how the chips land here at Android Police.

The Galaxy S6 is the most appealing phone from the Korean smartphone king in as many years as they've been making them, if you ask me, while HTC'S latest effort seems like a bit of a rehash.

Vine Gets Higher-Quality 720p Video Capability, Coming To Android "Soon"

unnamed (19) Vine is... OK, let's be clear here: Vine is kind of useless. There's literally nothing you can do with Vine that you can't already do with YouTube, unless you count an arbitrary 6.5-second time limit. That being said, there's no reason that Twitter can't improve its property, and it has done just that by boosting the video quality. Newly-created Vines from iOS are now defaulting to 720x720 pixels. Look down there: you can see all the retriever's little golden hairs.

Bluetooth And Wi-Fi Certifications Point To A Second-Gen NVIDIA SHIELD Portable

portable The original NVIDIA SHIELD (before the Tablet or the set-top box, so just called "SHIELD" at the time) was a surprise revelation at CES 2013. This high-powered Android device with an Xbox-style controller and a flip-up screen was unlike anything we had seen before, and though it never became a runaway hit, many (including yours truly) have been hoping that NVIDIA would update the design in addition to its more conventional SHIELD entries.

[Deal Alert] Duracell 2-Device Powermat (Compatible With Galaxy S6) Is Just $8.82 On Amazon (82% Off)

31PRnxDwzzL As nice as wireless charging is, a lot of people go through the entire lifespan of an Android device without ever using it, because the accessories to enable it are bloody expensive. Wireless charging pads typically start around the $40-50 range and go up, and for that kind of change, you can fiddle with a MicroUSB plug once or twice a day. But if you could get a wireless charging pad for under ten bucks, would you?
