Xiaomi has just officially announced that their two latest smartphones the Note 4G and the Mi 4 will launch in retail stores as of now. Unfortunately at this point, the smartphones are going to be only available in limited quantities as well as very limited locations. In Delhi NCR, the retail chain The Mobile Store is reportedly receiving limited inventory at select locations for sales for a Saturday launch. In terms of physical locations to purchase the two handsets, The Mobile Store appears to be the exclusive sales outlet for Xiaomi at least for the initial launch in India.
The Xiaomi Mi 4 is powered by the quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 mobile processor capable of reaching clock speeds of 2.5 GHz. To compliment this processing power, the Mi 4 will also include a plentiful 3 GB of RAM for smooth multitasking. As for internal storage, the phone will be available in two variants offering up 16 GB or 64 GB. The front of the device will feature a 5 inch, full high-definition 1920 x 1080 resolution JDI OGS fully laminated display. The rear of the device will bear a 13-megapixel camera while the front facing camera will be 8-megapixels. All of this more than capable hardware will run off of a 3080 mAh battery. Lastly, the software running on the Mi 4 will be Android 4.4 KitKat layered under the company’s personalized MIUI 6 skin.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G is coming in hot towards the mid-range smartphone market with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 mobile processor. While a modest chip in comparison with the Snapdragon 801, it is still quite capable with four cores capable of speeds up to 1.6 GHz. The Redmi Note 4G will also ship with a slightly more modest 2 GB of RAM. As for the display, the handset is an entirely different beast with a 5.5 inch 1280 x 720 resolution IPS LCD panel. For photography the handset will feature a 13 megapixel again on the backside, while on the front a more modest 5 megapixel shooter rests. There is only one version of the Redmi Note 4G shipping which will include 8 GB of internal storage although there is a microSD card slot for expansion included. Lastly, the phone will ship running Android 4.4.2 KitKat with MIUI v5 on a slightly larger 3100 mAh battery.
With both of these smartphones launching side by side, it would appear Xiaomi is really attempting to tackle the market on all fronts. With a high-end flagship phone and a mid-range handset launching simultaneously, potential buyers from both sides of the spectrum will have a phone to choose from. The Mi 4 will launch selling for Rs. 19,999 which is approximately $320 and the Redmi Note 4G will retail for Rs. 9,999 which is approximately $160.
