The NCAA March Madness 2015 App Is Out So You Can Watch All 67 Games

NCAA 2015 Title

March Madness is a special time of year here in the United States. It is a time when we cheer on our favorite college teams as they make the push to be the lone giant standing at the top of the mountain. During the 67 game spectacle, basketball lovers will experience a whole range of emotions. It is enough to make one go…well…mad. Thankfully Turner Sports Interactive, Inc. has a solution to help us transition through this stressful time in our lives. They have released the new NCAA March Madness Live application for Android. You can head over to the Google Play Store (source link below) and download your very own version for free and enjoy a pretty decent set of features to help you navigate through all the clutter and get the information that you need most to make your picks for the office pool or to simply impress your friends.

The application has gotten a bit of a facelift over last year’s application with a fresh new look and feel. The app will allow you to conduct research with the all-new team page. There is also a featured section that will enable you to check out some of the classic March Madness moments from tourneys past. They also added a list view for making a quick pick, or you can use bracket view for the classic look. The overhauled application will allow you to watch live coverage of all 67 games, so you do not have to miss out on the action while waiting in the grocery line or when you are out walking the dog. There is a caveat to this, however. You must have a TV subscription through your content provider to watch any game that is being aired on TBS, TNT, or truTV. Games that are on CBS are still able to be viewed without a TV provider subscription. They are offering a three hour pass so you can try it out, which will at least allow you to get in some buzzer time if you are not able to provide, or do not have a provider subscription.

It will also include up-to-the-minute scores and statistic data via the interactive bracket. You can also listen to live radio broadcast from the app, so if you can’t get the video, at least you will be able to hear what is going on as you remotely root for your favorite teams. Another neat feature is that it will allow you to enter the Capitol One NCAA March Madness Bracket Challenge and make your picks for the challenge right from the app. You can also head over to the Coke Arena to get social media experiences for Twitter and Instagram. There is also a team-specific video stream during the Final Four. If you are a basketball fan, this will be a must have app as you enjoy all that March Madness has to offer. You don’t want to miss out on the action because as we all know, anything is possible during March Madness. Will you be watching the tournament via mobile device? Who are some of your picks for this year? Let us know on out Google+ page or in the comment section below.

Wunderlist gets a Material Design makeover and new features

Wunderlist

Another app is getting some Material Design love. This time it’s the popular list-making and productivity app Wunderlist. The team has been hard at work the last few months building Wunderlist from the ground-up for Android Lollipop. Not only does it have a fresh coat of Material paint, but they’ve also added some really nice new features.

First and foremost is the new design. We’ve got colored status bars, floating buttons. meaningful animation, and a much more clean and refined look. It’s not a drastic re-design, but it’s just enough to make it feel at home in Android Lollipop.

Wunderlist has also added a few new handy features. First is the ability to put lists into folders. As you can see in the screenshots above I have two lists inside a “Shopping” folder. They’ve also made it much easier to add things from anywhere. You can create a new list or to-do with the floating (+) button, but also use the new widgets, or your voice with Google Now. All of these features are free for everyone.

If you’re looking for a great list-making app with sync across tons of devices and support for collaboration you can’t go wrong with Wunderlist. Download it for free from the Play Store today.

Google Announced They Will Be Shutting Down The Google Code Project

Google-Logo-AH-4

Google today have announced the closure of the Google Code project hosting service, which was launched in 2006. At the time, there were relatively few project hosting suppliers across the world and Google took it upon themselves to offer a service in order to improve stagnation and reliability across the sector. Since then, competitor – described by Google as “better” – project hosting services have been made available in the market such as GitHub and Bitbucket. Google themselves have moved a little under a thousand of their own open source projects away from Google Code across to GitHub, a sign of meeting developers where they are. Google supported the early project hosting service and rather than try to compete, have continued encouraging the services available by supporting the newer websites.

In Google’s blog post, Google’s Director of Open Source, Chris DiBona, explained that as developers moved their projects away from Google Code, the share of remaining projects that are spam or abuse has grown. Chris said this on the matter: “Lately, the administrative load has consisted almost exclusively of abuse management.” Essentially, after considering the level of non-abusive activity on Google Code, the decision has been taken to close down the service because it is no longer needed. The first part of this process is to disable project creation from today. The service will be shut down on the 25 January, 2016. Another significant date is the 24 August 2015, when the website goes to read-only mode. This means that clients may checkout and view project source code.

Google have worked on a number of project migration services designed to help developers move away from Google Code and to other service providers. Once the project hosting service is closed in January 2016, Google will make downloadable tarballs available (of project source, issues and wikis) for the rest of 2016. Of the migration services way, Google explains that the simplest way is to use the Google Code to GitHub exporter tool, which automates the project migration of source, issues and wikis into a new GitHub repo. Google will also offer stand-alone migration tools to GitHub and Bitbucket and would remind users that SourceForge provide a Google Code project import service.

Android customization – how to install an icon pack on your Android device

Google releases their own watch face for Android Wear called “Street Art”

street art

Back in December Google officially opened the doors for custom Android Wear watch faces. Since that day we’ve seen many creative and unique watch faces fill up the Play Store. Now, three months later, they have released their own watch face.

The watch face is called “Street Art,” and it brings artwork from dozens of artists within the Google Art Project. You won’t get a ton of customization options, but there are three different time modes: analog, digital, and minimal. With the different time modes and many backgrounds to choose from there are many configurations to choose from. There’s not a lot to say about this watch face. If you’re looking for something artsy and simple you can download Street Art below for free.

verizon_motorola_droid_turbo_blue_ballistic_nylon

Another color option of the Motorola DROID Turbo has made its way to Verizon. The carrier announced today the availability of the handset in Sapphire Blue Ballistic Nylon.

Right now, customers of Verizon can purchase the very capable handset in this new color option for $199 with a two-year contract or $24.00 per month when using the carrier’s Edge program. The latter choice spreads payments of the full retail price over twenty-four months. Verizon also notes that customers can get $100 bill credit when a new smartphone is activated on its Edge program. Those who go for the two-year contract option can hand over their current smartphone and receive the same amount.

We agree in saying that “Sapphire Blue Ballistic Nylon” is likely one of the longest names possible for a color option.
