Rumor: Huawei To Release A 399 Yuan ($64) Handset; 5″ 720p Display And 1GB Of RAM In Tow
China is well known for making extremely affordable smartphones, some of which are really good actually. There are still lots of those that are not worth the second look though, but some companies are doing a really good job in the “extremely affordable” category, like Xiaomi, Meizu and some other companies. Huawei is definitely one of those, they released an incredibly powerful device quite recently, the Honor 6 Plus, and priced it really low, on my surprise. It seems like Huawei plans to keep that trend and actually go much lower this time around, the Honor 6 Plus carries a really affordable price, but it’s a high-end device after all, well, it look like Huawei plans to release something much more affordable than that.
You might recall that a Leadcore-powered Xiaomi device got certified a while back, that handset will allegedly cost around 399 Yuan ($64), and it seems like Huawei plans to release something similar in order to compete with Xiaomi. The image of this device (which you can check out above this article), along with some additional information, popped up on the Chinese social network Weibo. This handset will allegedly also be powered by a Leadcore chip and as you can see in the image, it won’t have an LED flash on the back. The phone will reportedly sport China Mobile’s TD-LTE/TD-SCDMA/GSM network band and will also be a dual-SIM device. As far as specifications go, the leak says it will feature a 5-inch 720p display, 1GB of RAM, 5-megapixel rear-facing and a 2-megapixel front-facing cameras.
These specs actually don’t sound bad at all, quite on contrary, though I don’t believe Huawei will be able to price it so low though. 399 Yuan ($64) just seems way to low for an HD display and 1GB of RAM, but who knows, perhaps this China-based smartphone manufacturer surprises us all and actually manages to pull this off. It would be interesting to see both Xiaomi and Huawei to release the 399 Yuan ($64) handset. If this happens, which one of the two devices would you prefer? Would you be interested in such a device at all? This might be a great option for a backup smartphone or something of the sort.

Parrot Unveil The ‘RNB6′ Which is Powered By Android Lollipop And Also Supports Android Auto
Since Google’s I/O event, we have been on and off hearing about one of Android’s new platforms, Android Auto. This is in short, Android for you car. Different to simply having your phone in your car, this android-in-the-car offers the android experience for your car’s infotainment unit, controlling your music, messages and general communications. The one issue with Android Auto is that it needs an android connected smartphone to connect and be drive (pun) the unit.
Well, Parrot, today at CES have unveiled their latest offering which is going by the catchy ‘RNB6′ name. In spite of its name, the RNB6 is an interesting proposition. To clarify, the RNB6 is an infotainment system for you car and this does offer Android Auto functionality. So if you have an android smartphone and this unit installed, you can connect the two and reap all the benefits Android Auto offers. That said, if you don’t have an android smartphone (or simply don’t want to connect it to your car) then it does not matter. As well as Android Auto functionality the RNB6 also contains a version of Android 5.0 (Lollipop) built-in. The built-in Lollipop is developed by Parrot and offers users most of the functionality you would expect include onboard navigation, vehicle diagnostics as well as the ability to make calls, send messages and control your media. There is also a few additional features thrown in as well like driving assistance and voice control.
The RNB6 comes with a 7” 720p touchscreen and a 4 x 55W audio amplifier to make sure all your media comes through nice and clear. If the RNB6 dual Android Auto/Lollipop feature sounds like something you might be interested in, then unfortunately you are in for a bit of a wait. At the moment, there are pretty much no details on when the unit will be available to buy and even less details on how much it will cost. That said, it should be available at some point this year. For now though you can (and should) check out the video below to see what the RNB6 will offer.

Play Store May Be Redirecting Some Search Terms To The Predefined Categories
The user experience on Android is never standing still, which is no more evident than in the Play Store itself. It seems Google may be trying out a new behavior for search queries that match the names of the Play Store's predefined categories. Instead of presenting a list of apps, searching for a term like 'action' or 'puzzle' can bring up structured lists like those that would appear in the category itself.

Parrot Announces The Lollipop-Powered RNB6 Head Unit With Support For Android Auto (And Carplay)
Parrot usually arrives at CES with a swarm of consumer-oriented drone aircraft, but this year it's also showing off the RNB6. What is the RNB6? It's an in-dash head unit running its own version of Android 5.0, but it also has support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
To be completely clear, there are two different Android-related things going on here. The device itself runs a version of Android 5.0 developed by Parrot that has navigation, voice control, hands-free calling, music streaming, and more.

NVIDIA Announces The New Tegra X1 Mobile Chipset With 256-Core Maxwell GPU
NVIDIA has been the first few pebbles of the landslide that is CES for the last few years, and 2015 is no different. To kick off the world's biggest consumer tech show, CEO Jen-Hsun Huang started with mobile. The company announced its successor to the Tegra K1 mobile processor, the Tegra X1. This chip includes an octa-core 64-bit CPU married to a 256-core GPU. And that second chip is the killer: it's based on the same architecture as the latest full-sized NVIDIA desktop graphics cards, Maxwell.

Seagate’s new storage solutions for the cloud include a 500GB wireless model
Due to the size of files growing rapidly, the cloud is where many are building a home. Hard disk drive (HDD) manufacturer Seagate has announced three new storage solutions that are all connected to the cloud. The three models are the Seagate Seven, Seagate Personal Cloud, and the Seagate Wireless. The first two are standard cloud-based storage solutions with multiple sizes; however, the Seagate Wireless can roam free. It has 500GB of storage that can stream movies and pictures to mobile devices from absolutely anywhere. How? Because this model has its own connection. The battery within the Seagate Wireless will allow it to run for six hours from anywhere before requiring an outlet to recharge.
The Seagate Wireless costs $130 and color options are Lime Green, Cool Blue, Slate Gray, Fire-Engine Red, and White. It will be available to consumers by the end of January.

Android Headliner: What Are You Most Excited About With CES?
CES 2015 is nearly upon us and some of us can hardly keep our excitement contained with all the things that we very well could see come out of the event. While the official trade show doesn’t technically start until tomorrow, with the show floors opening up on Tuesday, a handful of companies are going to be trying to at the very least announce their newest offerings before the conferences begin tomorrow morning. So far we have seen some teasers of Sony’s upcoming CES releases, which potentially point to a possible new device that may or may not be the Xperia Z4,(although some of us here think that Sony will instead opt to unveil that device next month at MWC)and LG has promo posters up at CES showing off the thin curvature of the LG G Flex 2, although that’s all we see on the promo image, the actual curve from the side and no actual shots of the phone itself.
Nvidia also has their press conference which begins later on this evening, and if their demonstrations are anything like they were last year when they unveiled the Nvidia Tegra K1 processor running on 192 cuda GPU cores, then we expect a pretty cool show from them. Who knows what they have on the docket to unveil once things start up. Do you think we’ll see something new from HTC? Our own Alex Maxham thinks we might see a new Desire device shown off at the event, which isn’t entirely impossible. Other OEM’s that are less well known here in the states are at CES this year like Huawei and ZTE, both which will have something to show the attendees. ZTE in fact have already been displaying a couple of handsets like the ZTE Star 2 and the ZTE Nubia Z7(which was launched in China back in July of 2014)for those who are at the show, as we have boots on the ground at CES this year and we’ve gotten some hands on time with both of those devices.
Do you find ZTE’s devices to be compelling? The Star 2 is touting some pretty cool voice control features of the device and the Nubia Z7 comes with a 2K display with some pretty great camera software and a 13MP Sony sensor. While most of the top end smartphones will probably be shown off next month at MWC, we should see some stuff in the wearables department at CES this year and we wouldn’t be surprised to see some come cool stuff in the way of Android TV. Mobile devices are cool and all, but CES is mostly about consumer electronics, and we’re sure to see more of that stuff at CES than anything else, like smart appliances from both LG and Samsung as well as other connected home and consumer electronics products like TV’s, perhaps a smart coffee maker and maybe even some cool home audio equipment. There’s also been plenty of companies showing off their 2015 offerings in the headphones department, as we’ve already seen things like the wireless earbuds from Hearnotes shown off today. So what are you most eager to learn about at CES? Are you hoping to see some pretty cool handsets or are you more excited to see if a handful of new Android Wear smartwatches and wearables pop up? Perhaps you’re looking for a new TV and you want to see what Samsung or LG have to offer you? Let us know what you’re looking forward to in the comments.

Unknown LG-F510L Device Listed On Benchmark Site Seemingly Powered By Snapdragon 810 CPU
The next greatest offering coming from Qualcomm in the powerhouse department is going to be the Snapdragon 810 chipset, but at this point in time though there aren’t any devices that have officially been stated to carry the processor. With that being said though it appears that an unannounced LG handset has shown up on a benchmarking website listed as being powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810, and the first thing that comes to mind for us is the next flagship device coming from LG, whatever that may be. The LG device is listed under a model number LG-F510L, which doesn’t tell us much, but the benchmark listing does point to a couple other details.
The LG-F510L as it appears on the benchmark will be running Android 5.0.1, and the processor is listed as being clocked at 1.55GHz with 8 cores. It also lists the device as having around 2GB of RAM, which seems a little odd at this point in time for it to be a flagship like the LG G4 since the LG G3 came with a 3GB of RAM option on the model that came with 32GB of internal storage. It is possible however that the LG could choose to do the same thing with the LG G4 in terms of storage size and RAM combinations and come out with a 16 and 32GB model each having 2GB and 3GB of RAM respectively, and the LG G4 has been rumored to carry the Snapdragon 810 CPU.
At this point this is all merely speculation as there are no real details to point to what device from LG this could be, but we can only hope that if this ends up as the LG G4 it will come with more memory than 2GB(1838MB as listed on the benchmark). Although this may not pan out to be the successor to the LG G3, if it’s running the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 it should still end up being a real beast. LG likely isn’t poised to unveil anything major in the way of powerhouse phones until MWC next month, so whatever device is listed here, we’ll still have a little bit of time to wait before we know anything official.

Qualcomm releases video showing just how connected everything can be
This year at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, a common theme will be connecting everyday items. This is known as the Internet of Things or Internet of Everything. The obvious place for this approach is the home and Qualcomm is one of the companies willing to show how it can be done. Qualcomm claims it can bring together everything “from your water meter, faucet and TV to your washing machine and even your light bulbs.” After all, it does design that processors powering millions of devices around the world. There are not many companies that have the sheer strength that Qualcomm does.
