The Wunderlist to-do list and tasks app received an update today, bringing with it a completely redesigned look, as well as plenty of features that future proofs the app for Android 6.0 “Marshmallow.” For those already running Android 6.0, Wunderlist now allows users to utilize Now on Tap within lists, which brings quick searching through topics on the web right to your fingertips.

Additionally, to-dos can be added directly from the notification bar, which is a setting you can toggle from within the app. Wunderlist also notes that they have simplified Quick Add, allowing you to add a to-do with the touch of a button.

View the full changelog below, then grab the update on Google Play.

What’s New

  • Wunderlist on Android has a new design!
  • We’ve simplified Quick Add to let you add a to-do at the touch of a button–a big, blue one on your Home Screen.
  • Add to-dos straight from your notification bar! Enable it via Wunderlist Settings>Account>Notifications>Enable Quick Add Notification, then tap on ‘Add to Wunderlist’ on your notification bar.
  • With Android Marshmallow 6.0 we’ll ask you for permissions only when we need them.

Google Shares Two Exclusive Material Design Wallpapers You Haven’t Seen Before, Download Them Here

Yesterday, on Google’s Design site, Rachel Been penned an article that shared the story of the art behind the new wallpapers in Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The story talks of the artist’s (Carl Kleiner) use of different types of paper, layering, and lighting to create these Material Design beauties…wait a minute. Did I just say paper, layering, and lighting? I did. Wait, you mean the Material Design wallpapers in Android 6.0 aren’t just digital creations? They are real compositions of paper that are actual photographs? Indeed they are. How cool is that?

The entire blog post on these “paperscapes” lets you in on things like the types of paper used that have “subtle and sophisticated texture.” Kleiner also references the “organic” feel to each that is highlighted by “painted surfaces, color pigment powders, floating ink, and the like.” It’s actually pretty interesting stuff, even if you aren’t an art guy or gal.

On a related note, the post includes two never-before-seen exclusive wallpapers designed by Carl Kleiner that are available for download. Both are fantastic looking, especially when you, again, realize that these are photos of actual creations made up of paper and texture.

Below, you will find small resized versions of each to give you a preview of what you are about to get yourself into. If you want the full resolution versions, you can grab them here (blue) and here (red) or at the source link below.

Google is Also Launching YouTube Music on October 28, Yet Another YouTube App

As a part of its YouTube red announcement, Google announced a new app to the growing YouTube line-up, YouTube Music. Yes, come October 28, we will not only have YouTube, YouTube Kids, YouTube Gaming, YouTube Red subscriptions, and Google Play Music, we will also have a stand-alone music app for YouTube, called YouTube Music. Keeping up with all of that?

The Music app attempts to make “discovering, watching, and listening” to music as easy as ever, or maybe at least tries to hide all of the non-music you’ll find on YouTube that you may have no interest in. Google states that YouTube Music will “start you on a personal journey through one of the richest music catalogs” with the tap of a single song or artist.

The new YouTube Music app will arrive on October 28 when Red kicks off. We’ll have more then.

Twitter Intros Polls, Rolling Out Now for Android and iOS

For those here who always wished they could ask a simple poll question to their followers on Twitter, you may now do so. Rolling out this week to Android, iOS, and desktop users, anyone with a Twitter account can now create a 2-question poll for people to answer.

There does not appear to be a limit on who can answer, or what you can ask in the polls, but Twitter stressed in the announcement that the way you answer a poll will remain completely private.

Polls can go viral, as users can share them, RT them, quote them, or whatever else the kids are doing these days with the tweets. Polls will stay live on Twitter’s servers for 24 hours, then, will shut down. At that point you can access your data.

Be on the lookout for an update to your official Twitter app, if you don’t happen to use a 3rd-party like the rest of us.

Fossil Announces the Q Founder, Its $275 Android Wear Watch

Without much noise, Fossil unveiled its Android Wear watch this morning. The watch is officially called the Q Founder and is a part of the Fossil Q line of wearable accessories, but we’ll just refer to it as the Founder from here on out, to save everyone from another disastrous naming headache in the making.

Fossil hasn’t provided many details about the Founder, only that it runs an Intel chip and Android Wear. It has a round display, of course, and will be available “just in time for the holiday shopping season” at a starting price of $275. Seriously, that’s all we know.

They did some sort of “sneak” preview of the Q line for press that clearly didn’t involve the tech press, but Mashable was on hand to snap a few photos. Here are two, although, they appear to be showing two different watches (either that or the angle is throwing me off). One (the top image) resembles a chronograph styled watch, with pushers surrounding a crown, while the other looks to just have a crown.

fossil-1

101315-Fossil-Smartwatch-13

Not bad, right? I can’t necessarily say that this is any more beautiful than the Huawei Watch or new Moto 360, but it does look good, if not big.

The rest of the Q line includes devices called the Reveler, Dreamer, and Grant. The Reveler and Dreamer are bracelet style devices that can track fitness and send you buzzing/LED notifications. The Grant is an actual watch that is “talking to your smartphone” to relay fitness info and notifications. On the watch face, there are LED lights that will light up to show you activity. Each of these three devices will be available October 25.

Any of this sound interesting or are you good with the watches being made by Android phone manufacturers?

Google’s Nexus 6P is Now Out of Stock on the Google Store

Were you able to get in an order for Google’s Nexus 6P? If not, I hate to break it to you, but your chance is gone for the time being, at least through the Google Store. Google has apparently sold through their initial inventory and is now listing the device as “Currently out of stock.” Interested parties can only join a waiting list to be notified of future inventory refills.

That means they sold through all three colors and all three storage options in just a couple of weeks. However, we don’t know if they sold millions of them (probably not) or thousands (likely). We also still don’t know when original orders will ship, even though the Nexus 5X starting shipping this week.

Don’t worry, it’s not all bad news! Huawei is still selling the phone in Aluminium or Graphite and in all three storage options (32, 64, 128GB) at their own store. So, feel free to place those orders outside of Google’s own marketplace.

Samsung Pay is Now Actually, Officially, Really, No Seriously, Available on Verizon

At the end of last week, owners of the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy S6 Edge+, and Galaxy Note 5 on Verizon began receiving an update that not only brought the latest round of Stagefright fixes, but also made each ready for Samsung Pay. Then on Monday, a direct link to Samsung Pay on Google Play was discovered that allowed these phone owners to install Samsung’s mobile payment systems and get to tap, tap, tapping on payment terminals everywhere. And then Samsung said, “No, no, not yet,” and pulled it.

In an announcement that arrived in our inboxes this morning, Samsung says that everything is now ready and Verizon owners can officially join the party (again). Well, they are telling us that the Samsung Pay link goes live at 12PM Eastern (9AM Pacific) on Google Play, but it’s already live and showing as installable on compatible devices.

Go get it!
