T-Mobile will officially push out Lollipop for the LG G3 over-the-air on Tuesday, April 7th

For those that missed it, Lollipop is already available for T-Mobile’s LG G3 — but only through their PC updating tool. Which is odd, given these things are typically pushed out in the form of an over-the-air the update and downloaded straight to your device.

No matter, T-Mobile’s resident device guru Desmond Smith has shared with us the exact date we can expect Android 5.0.1 Lollipop to hit the phone over-the-air, no computer necessary.

According to Smith, T-Mobile will be pushing out the update on Tuesday, April 7th. So, if perhaps LG’s updater wasn’t working out for you, or you didn’t want to bother with manually flashing the OTA file, rest assured the update is less than a week away.

Featured Review: Incipio’s Clear Octane case for the HTC One M9

Now that our HTC One M9 review is out of the way, we can now focus on the more important things like the many cases that are available for the HTC One M9. This Octane case from Incipio actually isn’t quite available just yet. But it will be very soon. Incipio will be selling it for $24.99, and it’ll be available in green, blue, pink and black. Obviously, we have the green one here, which has really grown on me. I’m not a huge fan of green, but I’m really digging how it looks on the One M9.

The Octane case from Incipio absorbs impact, and is precision engineered with a rigid Plextonium polycarbonate back shell, along with a shock absorbent TPU textured bumper. It also has a nice smooth back, which helps to keep it in your hand and off the ground. You know the feeling you get with some cases where it just feels right? That’s what the Octane feels like in your hand with the One M9. I’ve been using it on the One M9 ever since I finished the review on Monday, so a little less than a week. And it looks and feels amazing.

On the back of the Octane case you’ll notice there’s a cut out for the camera and dual-LED flash. As well as another one towards the top for the microphone hole. On the bottom there are cut outs for the micro USB port as well as the 3.5mm headphone jack. Up top, there’s also a cut out for the IR Blaster, so you can still use your HTC One M9 as a remote control for your TV. I did test it out, and it does still work flawlessly. There isn’t a cut out for the power and volume rocker on the right side, but it is textured so you can feel for them and still press them when needed.

Incipio has a whole line of other cases coming out for the HTC One M9, including the Dual Pro, Dual Pro Shine, NGP, Feather and Corbin. Which we will review as soon as we get our hands on them. HTC Rolls Blinkfeed Into The Sense Home Application For HTC Devices

HTC’s Sense Home application for HTC devices just received a nice little update recently, and it now includes Blinkfeed along with the Sense Home widget and the all new HTC Themes found inside of the upcoming flagship device from HTC, the HTC One M9. Rolling things into one app should make things easier for users to enjoy all of the content they love while also customizing their device with a look that suits their personal tastes. With HTC Themes inside of the Sense Home app, users on the HTC One M8 will have access to the different options that will come with the new device out of the box, and it’s good to see HTC expanding that customization factor out to older devices instead of keeping it to the HTC One M9.

While Blinkfeed is the latest add to the application allowing users to easily add content they want to subscribe to and then access it right from the homescreen, Themes might be the star of Sense Home as the theme engine is a pretty new feature that wasn’t available on any other devices prior to the HTC One M9 being announced. With Sense Home, now older devices can customize their phone with all of the different options that the theme app has to offer like choosing a premade theme in the app catalog or creating something completely new from the ground up by selecting a wallpaper, icons, and notification sounds and more, all woven together by a color palette chosen by the theme app to match your selections.

HTC rounds things out with the Sense Home widget which attempts to intelligently feed you suggestions on apps to download based on location. As the Sense Home app is used over time and it learns more about you, it’ll try to assess what apps may benefit you as the user when you’re at work, home, or elsewhere and then feed those suggestions to you on the widget so you can access them from the Play Store and install them. This is an app only available for HTC phones like the HTC One M8 and the HTC E8, as well as others.

DuckTales Remastered bounces from consoles to Android devices, but the price might scare you away

A wise man once told me that life is like a hurricane… and starting today, that raging storm of nostalgic gaming bliss is hitting Android devices in the form of DuckTales Remastered.

As the name suggests, DuckTales Remastered is the official HD remake of the amazingly wonderful (and insanely difficult) 8-bit title that launched on the Nintendo Entertainment System back in 1989. So, what kind of impact has 20+ years made? Well, the game’s 8-bit graphics have been updated with sprites so clear and vivid, you’d be hard pressed to find a single pixel. They literally look like cels taken straight from the TV show. Gameplay has also aged well, featuring that same pogo-like action that made the original such a hit.

Players take control of Scrooge McDuck who traverses the world in search of treasure and his kidnapped nephews, while facing off against familiar enemies like the Beagle Boys and Magica De Spell. All the levels are here and include the Himalayas, the Amazon, Transylvania, African mines and the Moon, while featuring a digitally enhanced soundtrack and voice overs from the original cast.

Disney Interactive has released DuckTales Remastered for just about every mobile platform at $10 which includes, yes, our beloved Android devices. While that’s may sound a little steep to the casual Android gamer, keep in mind the title is still $15 on consoles like the PlayStation 4.

Atlanta residents get treated to one-hour deliveries with Amazon Prime Now

Atlanta is the latest city to get Amazon Prime Now goodness. It’s Amazon’s one-hour delivery service for Prime subscribers, and it costs $7.99 if you want it within the hour, or free if you can do 2 hours.

Simply download Amazon’s app and buy any of the items eligible for one-hour delivery, input your zip code and if your area is supported (they’ll cover the major population areas of the city at first, but will add more surrounding areas in time) you’ll have your goods in no time.

Let’s hope other cities are added to the list as fast as Dallas, Miami, Baltimore, New York and now Atlanta were. Let us know if you’ll be giving it a try!

I am still trying to figure out why HTC would offer this Plus version so close to the April 10 launch day of the basic M9?

Android 5.1.1 Spotted In SDK Manager, Suggests New Lollipop Update Is Right Around The Corner

It should come as no surprise that Android is due for a v5.1.1 release at some point, even if only to fix a particularly well-known memory leak. Now, thanks to an SDK update, we've got good reason to anticipate the new version is probably due out in the very near future. If developers check the SDK Manager for updates, they should see a new revision to the Platform SDK with a product description that reads "Android SDK Platform 5.1.1."

Now that the 5.1.1 version number is out there, it stands to reason Google has finalized the code and is either running some final tests or preparing for a release.

HTC Announces The One M8s For Europe: Basically The One M8 With A Cheaper Chipset And A 13MP Camera

OK, so maybe HTC's 2015 flagship isn't exactly sizzling hot (in the figurative sense, anyway). If you're in Europe, you'll soon have a less expensive option that has a lot in common with last year's model. HTC has announced the One M8s, a re-heated (sorry) take on the original One M8 from 2014. It's almost identical to the original, both inside and outside, save for two major changes: the processor and the camera.

A Closer Look: HTC Boomsound on the HTC One M9

HTC’s front-facing speakers, which they’ve dubbed Boomsound since the One M7 was announced in 2013, have been one of the highlights of HTC’s devices. It’s no different this time around. In fact, it’s even better. In the Snapdragon 810 series and later processors, Qualcomm has been working on something called Immersive Audio. It’s one of the many demos they had going at Mobile World Congress last month in Barcelona. And HTC is the first one to bring Immersive Audio to their smartphone, in the HTC One M9. Spoiler, it’s amazing.

I posted a video on my personal YouTube channel a few days ago showing the difference in sound between the two different modes on Boomsound. Which are Theater mode and music mode. You can see that video at the bottom of this post. Theater mode has Qualcomm’s immersive audio. If you don’t think it’s all that great, give it a try with an action movie clip or trailer playing on YouTube or another app. And turn the volume all the way up. I bet you’ll be amazed at what your $650 smartphone can do.

While the music mode in Boomsound is just what you’d expect, regular sound from your front-facing speakers. It still sounds amazing, but I personally prefer the theater sound for all the audio that comes from the HTC One M9. You can easily switch between the two as well. Going from Theater Mode to Music Mode is just as easy as pulling down the notification tray and tapping the icon, when audio is playing. When it’s not playing, you can change it from the settings. Just jump into Settings and under Phone you’ll see “HTC Boomsound with Dolby Audio” available there. Just tap on it and it’ll switch to the other mode.

As expected, HTC’s Boomsound is better than ever. With Qualcomm’s Immersive audio included it makes it even better. Qualcomm did inform us that all processors after the Snapdragon 810 will support Immersive Audio, that includes the teased Snapdragon 820. So it will be interesting to see how the other OEMs use immersive audio in their devices. Especially Motorola and Sony seeing as they do front-facing speakers now too.

Sprint Announces Galaxy S5 Sport Android Lollipop OTA Software Update

Do you recall the Samsung Galaxy S5 Sport? Unless you own one, probably not. It's a Galaxy S5 Active with a different name. The former is only available on AT&T. The latter is a Sprint exclusive.

Today the Galaxy S5 Sport's carrier has announced its Lollipop over-the-air update. Software version G860PVPU1BOC5 will bump the handset up to Android 5.0 and bring with it all the changes that this transition entails.

This update also includes reactivation locking, which requires entering security credentials in order to factory reset the device.
