lollipop

If you own an Android Wear device right now, chances are you're probably waiting patiently furiously checking for that elusive Android Wear update. Well, we've got you covered. As the links to the OTA ZIP files become available, we will post them here. To flash these, you'll need to have ADB installed and have the Google USB drivers from the Android SDK. You'll reboot your watch into recovery mode, then select "Install Update From ADB." You can then run "adb sideload filename.zip" from a command prompt.

Android Headliner: HTC Tried Something Different with the RE Camera, and That’s a Great thing!

HTC-Re-Camera-AH-1

When you’re in the mobile business like us and review just about every Android phone ever made. Things get boring after a while. Going to these launch events, and stuff, you see the same thing, basically but from different companies. So when companies like Samsung, HTC, LG, Motorola and others do something different it gets us excited. Typically when we go to a launch event for a new phone, the company shows us their new phone then tells us how its the best thing since sliced bread. And most of the time it just looks like a regular phone, regular specs, regular features. Which is why we got excited for the Galaxy Note Edge, and also for the HTC RE. Even though the HTC RE is not a smartphone. But it’s a GoPro style camera that takes pretty decent pictures and video.

This week, HTC sent over the HTC RE and we’ve spent some time playing with this camera, and it’s pretty awesome. it’s different, it’s something you wouldn’t expect from HTC. And I love when OEMs do things like that. I’d like to see more OEMs doing camera type products. I know Sony and Samsung already do because they have their own camera business too. But seeing HTC and even LG do camera-type products would be really sweet.

So the HTC RE camera. It’s not your typical camera, and I’m fine with that. I still really like it. It does look like an asthma inhaler, but eh, who cares, right? It takes great video and takes great pictures which you can easily transfer to your phone and upload to your favorite social network. I don’t know if you can do it that easily with a GoPro as I’ve never used one, but I do know some cameras work pretty easily like that, but not all of them. While the HTC RE isn’t perfect, it’s still a great first generation product. HTC has always done great things with cameras – we’ll forget about the UltraPixel thing – so it’s great to see them bringing that experience to camera products now.

Seeing OEMs doing new things. That’s something I can definitely get behind, and I’m sure I’m not alone in saying that. I bet you could ask any other writer or editor from another site that covers the mobile industry and they’ll say pretty much the same thing. How many of you have picked up a HTC RE camera already?

Game Of Thrones - A Telltale Games Series (Episode 1) Review: Point-And-Click Adventure Comes To Westeros

unnamed (18) TellTale is getting really good at this. In the developer's short history they've released more than ten games that have adapted the classic point-and-click adventure template to modern pop culture licenses, improving on both the classic formula and their own unique approach. Game of Thrones, like The Walking Dead game first introduced in 2012, is a particularly timely addition. With excitement bubbling over for the fifth season of HBO's adaptation of the fantasy novels, the GoT license is a hot item, and one that TellTale is uniquely qualified to explore.

Google Maps Navigation Lane Guidance Is Now Available In France, Germany, Italy, Ireland, Spain, And The United Kingdom

unnamed (17) OK, European readers. We know Google doesn't always put a rush on features and products outside of the United States. America got lane guidance (which tells you which late to get into before you approach a turn or exit) way back in May. It looks like US roads were the only ones on which this feature was available, at least until yesterday, when Google announced lane guidance for some European countries on the official Google Europe blog.

[APK Download] Google Play Books Version 3.3 Adds An Offline Dictionary And A Slightly Tweaked Slide-Out Menu

unnamed (16) Voracious readers and Word-A-Day calendar fans, this one is for you. While the latest update to Google Play Books isn't anywhere near as dramatic as the Material Design refresh six weeks ago, it nonetheless adds a couple of features that regular readers will find useful. First of all, version 3.3 adds a downloadable dictionary option to augment Play Books' instant lookup feature. To apply it, just highlight a word in any book and then tap the contextual "download" button.
