Android's Google+ app also got an update today that - while masquerading as a stability/bug-fix release - packed in a couple of new goodies. Perhaps the most exciting tidbit from the update is the ability to cast your stream to a Chromecast.

When we first discussed Google's effort to re-imagine interface design, it was expected that Google would release fresh designs in small steps, gradually easing its own apps into the new design language a few pieces at a time.
Inside an update that officially only contained stability improvements, Chrome Beta got one more lovely design element today - a beautiful build-out animation for the overflow menu. Readers who have taken a look at Google's new design spec will recognize the mechanics of the animation right off the bat - the menu appears in a sensible way, expanding from one origin point and building out menu items in a coordinated, predictable manner.

Just because T-Mobile claimed the top spot in the prepaid market doesn’t mean they’re going to back off on their competitive pricing. The carrier’s newly announced Pay As You Go plans offer extremely low, flat-rate costs for customers that are both extremely cheap and simple to keep up with.
You’ll be able to talk and text on T-Mobile’s network for just $0.10 per minute or text message, which is easily the lowest price you’ll find on a prepaid carrier. There’s only a $3 monthly minimum to keep the account active, so there’s no fear of the account closing and having to jump through hoops to get it started back up. As a cherry on top, T-Mobile is also letting these customers purchase data at $5 for one day, up to 500 MB of LTE data, or $10 for a week up to 1 GB of LTE data. That’s tough to beat.
If you’ve been looking for some extremely low-cost plans for your emergency or backup phone, or even for a kid or something similar, definitely check out T-Mobile’s latest offering.

Remember that new feature called Google Stars that we told you about in April? Well we have more screenshots for you.
Google Stars appears to be a new way to store bookmarks, whether it be synced across the web or locally stored. The screenshots after the break include both the desktop version as well as the mobile view.
As you can see, Filters are now called Auto Folders and the mobile view is more polished. Even with this progress, it’s unlikely we will see a release until at least late this year.

If nothing else, Google Glass is making a name for itself by assisting doctors perform surgery and operations. We reported on a plastic surgeon using Glass with patients last time, and this time we have a doctor in Kansas City who is using Glass to complement computer monitors in the operating room.
During facial reconstruction surgeries, Dr. Jeff Colyer wears Glass to view x-ray images without having to look up at the monitors that would typically display the images. By doing this, he is able to see exactly what he’s working on without having to look away from the patient.
There has been some criticism over using Google Glass considering it is a potential distraction, but Colyer points out that there are tons and tons of distractions in the operating room to begin with. Anything from other doctors to images and videos on monitors can pull a doctor’s attention away from a patient, so he believes that as long as Glass is being used as a medical tool, it’s a significant benefit, not a problem.
