CM 11S update reportedly available for manual update: fixes a number of well-known OnePlus One bugs
While the OnePlus One has been largely well received by most tech publications, including Android Authority, the handset is not without its faults. Aside from the fact that the phone is fairly hard to get ahold of, some of the biggest complaints have to do with a number of Cyanogenmod 11S bugs that lead to poor call quality, lockscreen glitches and more. The good news is that most of these bugs are about to be squashed.
According to a new report, CyanogenMod 11S has a new update on its way that brings a number of improvements to the OnePlus One. Here’s the list of known changes:
- Better earpiece performance
- Fixes lockscreen glitches
- Smoother 4K video recording
- Adds stereo video recording
- Fixes Home key glitch on double-tap
- Better keyboard haptic feedback
- Redesigned Flashlight app
- New welcome screen
Considering a very limited number of OnePlus One handsets are out there in the wild this update will only directly affect a limited number of folks, but for those that are considering the OnePlus One it also means that you probably won’t have to worry about some of the call quality problems and other issues you might have heard plague the device if you decide to pick one up when its fully available.
It’s important to note that neither Cyanogen or OnePlus have spoken directly about when we might see an OTA update that brings these changes, though Tutto Android has a link to the ROM for those that wish to manually install it. Keep in mind that this means those that already have a OnePlus One will have to clean install this ROM if they don’t want around for its formal rollout (and they should do so at their own risk).
Hopefully it’s only a matter of time before the update is available without having to manually install it, and we’ll be sure to update our readers as soon as we learn more.

Sony announces official wireless charging solution for Xperia Z2
If you’re an Xperia Z2 owner that’s been impatiently waiting for the rumored Z2 wireless charging kit, you’ll be happy to know that Sony has now made it official. Sony’s wireless charging solution is based on the QI charging standard and consists of two different components: the WCR12 Wireless Charging Cover and the WCH10 Wireless Charging Plate.
Sony’s new cover not only works with wireless charging, it also covers both the front and back of the Xperia Z2 and can even work as a kickstand. The case weighs in at 66 grams and packs the dimensions of 149 x 78 x 14mm. The stand is available in black or white.
While the Xperia Z2 charging cover should work with any QI-certified charger, if you want to keep to official accessories, the WCH10 charging plate gives you a stylish circular solution with a black top and metal sides. The plate is capable of producing 5W of power and 1A output. If you have other QI-compatible devices they should also work nicely with the WCH10 charging plate.
So how much do these official accessories set you back? That’s a good question, but one Sony has yet to answer. Sony has yet to set pricing or release date in stone, though the accessories should roll out sometime this summer.
What do you think of the Xperia Z2 WCR12 cover and WCH10 charging plate? How much would you be willing to pay for each?

Deal: get a Moto G (Verizon prepaid) for just $70 on Amazon
When it comes to good return for your investment, you can’t really get much better than the Moto G. Packing an HD screen and a capable processor, this KitKat-powered device is clearly the better deal compared to most devices in its price range.
If you want a phone to use on Verizon’s prepaid plans, the Moto G is a great option, and it gets even better when you can buy it for just $70 with free shipping from Amazon. That’s a 30% off deal, and you probably won’t find a better option.
Note that this is a CMDA phone with no SIM card, and that you will need to activate it on one of Verizon’s prepaid plan in order to use it.
According to the product page, “this phone is NOT compatible with Verizon contract plans. It is a designated no-contract phone and will not work as a replacement device on an existing Verizon contract.”
If you’re fine with this limitations, check out our hands-on review for more details.
