Moto 360 Orders Are Already Shipping From Motorola

If you were lucky enough to get an order placed for the Moto 360 on Motorola's website before they went out of stock, keep an eye on your email. Motorola has already gotten some orders out the door at its Texas facility, with an expected arrival date of Tuesday, September 9th.

This first wave of shipments will probably be followed by a bit of a dry spell. Best Buy won't have any units in stores until September 14th and online stock is sold out.

Verizon HTC One (M7) Receives 4.4.3 Update

For users of the original HTC One, HTC’s latest hustle and bustle over its latest devices may cause some feelings of being left behind. If you’re in that boat, here’s some news to brighten your day: Verizon is currently rolling out Android 4.4.3 to the One M7 which brings improvements from mild stability tweaks all the way to Extreme Power Saving Mode, which allows you to go maximum time on each charge.

So if you own a One M7, download that update and and save some juice! If you own the M8, however, it seems you will have to wait one more week to get the update.

Android Headliner: Why the Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact Might be the Best from Sony Yet

It’s been a busy week for technology news, specifically the mobile variety. IFA 2014 has already given us big announcements from the likes of Samsung, Sony, ASUS and smaller announcements from the likes of Acer and Alcatel. As well, Motorola dropped a metric ton of new devices, accessories and the expansion of Moto Maker to the UK. While the focus has pretty much been on the wearable technology that’s hit the scene over the past few days, I’ve been more interested in a new tablet from Sony. The Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact might have one of the most ridiculous names in tablet history, but it specced out really nicely, it looks good and like most Sony products it’s also waterproof, too.

Alex has been lucky enough to spend lots of time with all of Motorola’s new products, but Justin and I have been more impressed with what Sony have announced this past week. Sure, the Xperia Z3 itself wasn’t that big of an upgrade over the original Z2, but their new, smaller 8-inch tablet looks like my next tablet. When it comes to smartphones, we’re often looking for the absolute best and why not? If we’re going to be locked into a contract for two years, it had better be good. However, when it comes to tablets, these are things we’re more than happy to sacrifice something if they’re just great to live with. Living with a device and having the best out there are two very different things. I currently have a G Pad 8.3 and while it’s sometimes a little sluggish and the display is a Full HD panel rather than a 2K display, it’s great to live with, and that’s important.

I want a tablet that’s great to browse the web, portable enough to throw in a bag quickly, thin and light enough to use for reading and well, I want a fast tablet. The Z3 Tablet Compact has a Snapdragon 801 and 3GB of RAM under the hood, so I won’t be short on performance and the 8-inch display is a Full HD panel, which is ample for a tablet of this size. It’s also waterproof, so I won’t have to worry about spilling coffee or juice on it, which is another important point with a tablet, I want to have a tablet that I can read the news in the morning over breakfast without worrying about getting it wet or crumbs clogging up some port. All-in-all, the Z3 Tablet Compact is a tablet that will be really quick and won’t let you down in either the looks or durability department.

Why is this their best tablet yet? Well, it’s pretty simple. It’s the first tablet from Sony that anyone could pick up and live with. The Z2 Tablet is great, but it’s a little on the large side, especially when taking into account that Full HD display and those bezels. Here though, this has everything that makes a Sony device great in a neat little package you can easily take wherever you want and you don’t need to worry about spilling anything on it. Now, if only Sony would price it reasonably…

HTC Desire 820 Hands-On: Big Numbers, Small Price Tag

The HTC Desire 820 is all about appealing to specification geeks, there really isn't any point in hiding it. Android's first 64-bit, octa-core chipset (Snapdragon 615), a 13MP camera, an 8MP selfie camera, and a big 5.5" screen. This is a phone for the hardware geek on a budget, and budget it is: the 820 will retail in Europe for just 329 Euros.

We had the opportunity to sit down with the 820 at IFA, and while the numbers are big, the phone still feels well-within its price bracket.

LG G3 Stylus And G3 S (Beat) Hands-On: Nothing To See Here

The LG G3 Stylus is, frankly, LG's attempt to hit Samsung below the [pricing] belt for consumers in the market for a Note 4. The G3 Stylus, though, is a hell of lot cheaper, and for good reason: it's not a very impressive device. With a 5.5" qHD display and a quad-core Snapdragon 400 paired with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage, the G3 Stylus panders shamelessly to a price point, down to the capacitive rubber-tipped stylus that feels supremely disposable.

Hands-On With The Lenovo Tab S8 And Vibe Z2 Pro

Lenovo is an up-and-coming player in the Android world, having taken the Chinese smartphone market by storm in the last couple of years. Now that it owns Motorola, we'll likely be hearing the Lenovo name even more often over here in the US as the company seeks to expand the presence of its Android portfolio across the world.

This is probably especially true of tablets, which Lenovo has consistently been creating for a number of years now, and an area where Motorola has generally fallen flat.
