Moto S could be a Verizon exclusive for the first 2 months
I am still have a hard time believing that Motorola will release a Moto S so close to their big event in Chicago, but rumors continue to swirl. This one comes from TKTechNews, which has an interesting history, so take all of this with a grain of salt.
According to him, the Moto S will be exactly what the next Nexus is rumored to be as in a 5.9-inch Quad HD display and a Snapdragon 805. It will supposedly be a Verizon Wireless exclusive for the first 2 months. AT&T would then get the device towards the end of the year. I am not sure why Verizon would want to market this device as an exclusive with the new DROID Turbo coming, but that is the rumor.
The rest of the report makes very little sense, and to be honest, it isn’t all that clear. He talks about Android Silver still being a possibility and the fact that Google is still in negotiations to use the Nexus 6 name. Supposedly they could utilize the Moto S as part of Android Silver or use it as a Google Play Edition device. Although all of this sounds a little ridiculous, I do find it interesting that the Nexus 6 (Nexus X) leaks don’t show the Nexus logo on the device.
Lastly, he claims there will be a 5.2-inch and 5.9-inch Nexus this year.
Like I said, take all of this with a grain of salt. I almost didn’t post this news, but crazier things have happened. Plus, a broken clock is right twice a day right?

Dropbox update brings file exporting to external SD cards like the Galaxy S5, LG G3, and One M8
We’re seeing an ever growing number of Android devices coming equipped with expandable memory and with that, we’re going to need more apps that actually support them. Thankfully, the folks at Dropbox didn’t drag their feet too long, with a new update rolling out on Google Play that finally supports the exporting of files to SD cards.
The update is available to all Android devices and Dropbox says it was one of their most requested features. With Dropbox finally obliging users of devices like the Samsung Galaxy S5, LG G3, and HTC One M8, all your files stored in the cloud can now be exported to your micro SD card and will no longer have to take up limited internal storage.
To get started, download the update right now on the Google Play Store and open the app. Then when viewing a folder, select the quick action pulldown of the file you want to export and select, More > Export > Save to Device > then select your external SD card. Should you find the SD card isn’t listed, you may have to configure some settings. Dropbox says they’re located under menu with the “Save to” screen > Settings > Display advanced devices.
Dropbox also mentioned Android L users should find better support with faster searches and you can grab the update right now on the Google Play. Link provided in the widget below.

Nvidia And Honda Join Forces To Launch New Infotainment System Called Honda Connect
Honda has announced a new infotainment system today that it has dubbed Honda Connect, and the system will be powered by Android and Nvidia’s Tegra auto grade processor. The Honda Connect systems are slated to be showing up standard in at least three of Honda’s new models next year including the Civic, the Civic Tourer, and the CR-V. Honda Connect will also be running on Android 4.0.4, that’s Ice Cream Sandwich goodness for those of you who are Android newcomers, and will apparently be available in Europe in early 2015. The Honda Connect system will be Honda’s answer to taking the increased interest of the driver to utilize smartphone apps inside the car and blending it into the driving experience in such a way that it’s not only safe but in appeasement of the requirements of the automotive industry.
The Honda Connect will consist of a 7-inch capacitive touch screen display for interaction, usable for things like satellite navigation, radio(AM/FM/DAB)vehicle data and the rearview camera for use while backing up, allowing for an easy way to see what’s going on behind you. It will also allow for the capability to install other apps as well. Since the system runs on android and houses a capacitive touch screen, that also means that it will carry pinch to zoom features and gestures, so using it will be just as easy and familiar as using a smartphone or a tablet that currently runs Android.
Rob Csongor who is Nvidia’s general manager for automotive stated that “Honda is bringing NVIDIA’s advanced mobile technology to an important new segment of vehicles,” something that we’d completely agree with. A touch of personalization is also mentioned, giving the driver the ability to customize the screen on the Honda Connect system to make it their own. The car is a personal thing, and Android is big on personalization, so it makes sense that Honda should want to include this as an option. How exactly they plan to let drivers customize the display is uncertain, but it is Android so we’d expect choice of screen backdrop, collection of apps on the main screen, etc. as being possible options to make the system more personal. The Honda Connect system will also give drivers access to the Honda App Center, where they can find, download and install additional apps to further personalize their experience with the system itself and their vehicle.

MockUps: These Renders Show What The Nexus 6 May Look Like
It is Nexus season, and if it wasn’t evident by the amount of leaks and at least one or two detail confirmations that we’ve seen in the last couple of weeks about the upcoming new Nexus smartphone, perhaps these renders will do the trick to put it into perspective. Earlier on at the end of last week we saw a confirmation post about Motorola’s upcoming Nexus 6 device, which seems it will in fact be sporting a 5.9-inch QHD display, and coming with dual stereo speakers, as well as many attributes of this years recently launched Motorola Moto X. That’s because the phones is reportedly going to be just a bigger and slightly more powerful version of that device, with tweaks to make it more googley of course as well as account for the bigger screen. By that last part we mean that the buttons, the volume rocker and power button to be precise, will be placed further down on the sides so as to make them more reachable.
While we have already seen a couple mockups of the Moto Nexus 6, these two renders depict a somewhat cleaner look of what we can probably expect from the device when it launches, which we were able to acquire thanks to Droid Life. Since these are just renders of course, we have no way of knowing whether or not the device will actually be coming in Black and White color options. Those were the available color choices for the Nexus 5, Nexus 4, and Galaxy Nexus however so it’s at least reasonable to assume that this could be the case with the Motorola Nexus 6 too. The renders show off the devices in black and white from a rear view, and they actually look pretty decent.
As it’s already been stated that the Nexus 6 will look largely the same(pretty much identical)to the Moto X 2nd Gen., these renders are appropriately just larger versions of the Moto X with the word Nexus on the back, just like we saw on the Nexus 5, as well as having those lower placed buttons we talked about above, which are basically sitting directly in the middle of the sides. Keep in mind these are just made up renders, and really just serve a purpose to show us what we could be seeing when the phone hits the shelves. What are your thoughts? We know some of you aren’t fond of that larger display, but if you’re happy with the design of the new Moto X then you should most likely appreciate the Nexus 6 design as well.

ZAGG’s Survey Finds Half Of Us Drop Our Smartphones
ZAGG, Utah-based smartphone accessory manufacturer, have released the results from a survey asking 768 US residents questions about their smartphone and tablet devices. The results are a little surprising: just under half of respondents reported that their device was damaged and of these, half again were reporting a scratched, cracked or shattered screen. With tablets, it appears we take better care of these devices as only one in four are damaged. Of the damaged smartphones, half of respondents continued using their device as it was, one third replaced it with a new device. Only two percent replaced it with an older ‘phone. For those people who had the damage repaired, the average cost was $144.
And then we look at how our devices were damaged. It’s no surprise that half of us report we damaged our smartphone by dropping it and one in four report liquid damage. The remainder damaged their devices either through it being scratched, wear and tear or the ubiquitous “other” category. Things are a little different in tablet-land where one in three damaged tablets were dropped, one in six live in the “damaged by kids” camp. Roughly one in ten was scratched and another one in ten has suffered from liquid damage. Digging a little deeper into the statistics, three percent of smartphone owners interrogated by ZAGG have dropped their current smartphone into the toilet and one and a half percent have kept on using it afterwards. Ultimately, gravity and liquids are the biggest danger to our precious electronic devices, but ZAGG’s survey reports that almost three quarters of us worry about losing the device more than dropping it.
My biggest surprise looking into these statistics is how few people switch to an older device when theirs is too badly damaged to continue. As a habit, I have sold most of my devices but I’ve kept one back for emergency purposes. Currently, my backup device has 768 MB of RAM (kudos if you can guess what this is?), which is also the number of people who responded to ZAGG’s online survey back in June. I don’t believe it’s representative of the North American market. Depending on where one looks, it’s believed that there are approximately 200,000 smartphones in use and somewhere close to 90,000 tablets in the US market today. Still, ZAGG are in the business of selling cases that can help prevent our devices from being smashed or scratched and by their research, it’s a common enough occurrence and a reminder for us to keep our devices safe.

What happens when you have a room filled filled college kids who’s hormones are practically dripping out of their and tight, hot, young little bodies? Having heard stories and seen enough movies from the comfort of my parents’ basement, I can tell you there will be sex. Which is totally cool, you know. As long as it’s consensual. Of course, when you add alcohol to the mix, lines get blurred and sometimes a wing man in necessary to help steer you in the right direction.
But as a male a fully developed young male, how can you possibly decipher all of her mixed signals while avoiding the possibility of sexual assault? You get to her to download an app. Yes, we’re totally serious.
That’s the idea behind Good2Go, a new app now available on Android and iOS that looks to reduce the number of regretted sexual encounters. The app looks to take the awkwardness out of waking up next to a complete stranger by moving all that weirdness to the very first interaction — before any funny business.
Basically, when you find someone at a kegger or local house party you’d like to hook up with, you ask them if they’re “Good2Go?” by handing them your phone with the app open and roaring to go. The recipient then knows exactly what you’re intentions are and can respond accordingly.
If they are, in fact, “Good2Go” a follow up question will be asked to gauge their level of intoxication. Any answer will require the recipient enter a password to confirm their identity and the response is confidentially recorded. Answering “pretty wasted” option will prompt a warning from the app that the user is in no position to consent to anything. According to the app’s developers, the recipients information is completely private and not viewable by the owner of the phone. It’s like the ultimate wing app.
To be fair, we totally get what the app is trying to accomplish and getting our nation’s young people to make responsible sexual decisions (and avoid date rape) is admirable. There’s just something about having someone fill out a survey before agreeing to coitus that, not only sounds like it would kill the mood, but incredibly unrealistic no matter how tech savvy the kids are nowadays.

Someone carved a Nexus 6 out of wood and compared against the Nexus 4 and 7
It’s probably the last thing we thought we’d see today, but after taking a look at a mockup of the Nexus 6 from the other day, one resourceful Redditor took to making his own. Out of wood. He carved a Nexus 6 out of wood. Yup.
Taking the measurements of its rumored 5.9-inch display and using the carefully crafted mockup, he was able to punch in the measurements into a DPI calculator to come up with a 73.5mm by 13.06mm display. He then printed it out, and began carving out a 3D mockup made out of wood. Excessive? A bit. But it’s also damn cool and we applaud the man for it.
Putting it up against his Nexus 4 and Nexus 7, we get a better idea of exactly the kinda size we’re talking about here with the phone dwarfing the Nexus 4, but not coming anywhere near the gargantuan size of the Nexus 7. Seems the phone will definitely be big, but not stupid big. For one last illustration, you can see the phone in reference to the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and iPhone 6 Plus with the Nexus 6 size calculated using the same method above. The small bezels help keep the overall size down, measuring in just a hair smaller than the iPhone 6 Plus.
What do you think? Seems this year’s Nexus could be targeting a smaller niche market of phablet enthusiasts. If so (and Google doesn’t come out of left field with a Nexus 5 2014 model), we could be passing on this year’s Nexus for the first time in forever and sticking it out with the new Moto X (2nd Gen) Pure Edition.
