Oppo N3 Specs Leak along with new Photos

Oppo-N3_Render Oppo’s N3 is the big phone that everyone’s talking about as its release nears. There have been rumors that it will sport a cylindrical camera, and others that it will have a swiveling snapper similar to the N1. Based on the photos that leaked most recently, it seems to be the latter.

As far as specs go, supposedly it has a 5.9 inch screen with a 1080p display, which gives a ppi of 373. The processor is a Snapdragon 805, supported by 3GB of RAM. The special swiveling camera has 13 MP, and there should be two versions: a lightweight Aluminum Lithium alloy model, and an extra sturdy Stainless Steel model. The phone should be released some time in October. Oppo-N3_Render-2 Source: Zaeke

Bad News Explorers As Study Suggests Google Glass Not Safer Than Texting While Driving

google_glass driving

We all know it’s not the best idea to drink and drive or drug and drive. Everyone is also aware that you are not supposed to text and drive although I’m pretty sure a lot of you out there probably still do it. Tut tut. But it now seems it’s also not a good idea to do Glass and drive. No, this is not a reference to Breaking Bad or Crystal Meth but instead to the other Glass…you know, Google’s one.

A study conducted by researchers at the University of Central Florida UCF) found drivers wearing Glass were no better at responding to emergency situations then those texting with smartphones. One might think (and Google might claim) as Glass is hands-free drivers would be better equipped to respond but according to the study this is simply not the case. The researchers tested 40 participants using a driving simulator and measuring the participants reactions (slamming on breaks to avoid an accident) while using Glass or their smartphones. The results suggested Glass wearers (aka Explorers) did not respond any better (or quicker) than those using their actual smartphone. However, it was not all bad. The results did show that Explorers were able to regain control of the vehicle (following the accident) much quicker and effectively than the smartphone users. As Ben Sawyer (UCF researcher) noted “While Glass-using drivers demonstrated some areas of improved performance in recovering from the brake event, the device did not improve their response to the event itself”. Another very interesting finding from the study was Explorers tended to follow much closer to the cars ahead (tailgating) than smartphone users. It was not clear as to whether this was a product of depth-perception when wearing Glass or Explorers simply paying more attention to Glass than smartphone users did to their phones. Either way it is an interesting observation.

So there you go folks. The results are in…at least for now. Using Glass while driving does not seem to be any better than using your smartphone. So for all you Explorers out there it might be best to try and avoid driving while under the influence of Glass. For everyone else, if you see someone driving while Glassing then I guess you have another reason to start hitting that horn. Either way, on Glass or not, drive safe boys and girls.

Gameloft’s New 80’s Inspired Racer Asphalt Overdrive Hits The Play StoreAsphalt Overdrive

If you were waiting for the follow up to Asphalt 8, you now sort of have it. While we’re not sure Gameloft will decide to forego Asphalt 9 or not, Asphalt Overdrive has just hit the Play Store this week for a taste of some brand new content that involves the Asphalt racing that we know and love. Not entirely the same however, this title isn’t your traditional racer as Gameloft has opted to make it an endless racer instead of what we saw from their last game in this franchise. You’ll use swipe gestures left and right to switch lanes and dodge oncoming traffic and other obstacles, and you can still perform tricks and other stunts by making other swipe gestures while in the air, however movement is pretty much completely on the rails as you have no free movement control nor control over the speed of your vehicle. There is 30 unlockable vehicles, and 7 different mission types with which to test your driving skills. Asphalt Overdrive is free and you can grab it from the Play Store if you’re interested, although we personally can’t help but feel this was just something that Gameloft whipped up to tide fans over until they could prepare the next true title in the Asphalt series, or so we hope.

Mobage And Lucasfilm Ltd. Are Bringing Star Wars: Galactic Defense To AndroidStar Wars: Galactic Defense

Those of you who are Star Wars fans and have thought, “where is the Star Wars themed Tower Defense game?” You’re in luck. Lucasfilm Ltd. is working together with Mobage to bring just such a game to Android later on this year. There is no exact timing for a release date just yet, but there is only a few months left so we would expect sometime before the holidays if we had to guess or perhaps just in time for them. The game is going to be called Star Wars: Galactic Defense, and it so far looks liek it’s going to mesh the best parts of both worlds together into one massively awesome looking game. You can check the trailer below for the developer diary(the first of a handful)which showcases a little bit of in-development gameplay. Enjoy! We’ll update when we know more about the details of the game like possible launch, and pricing. If you’re eager to get a head start on things, you can pre-register for the game at the official website here, which could end up getting you some exclusive special in-game loot.

Angry Birds Transformers Soft Launches In New Zealand With Global Launch Oct. 30thAngry Birds Transformers

Angry Birds Transformers will be the next game title in the series to partner with a major franchise, and although we still have some time before it hits the rest of the Android world(October 30th is when we can expect the game to go live globally), Rovio has recently put out the game in New Zealand and their home country of Finland as part of the games soft launch. The soft launch seems like a common first step with Rovio titles as the same thing happened with Angry Birds Epic and at least one other game in the series, which probably helps to track the games popularity with users as well as flesh out any bugs before a full on launch. Almost like an open beta of sorts. Angry Birds Transformers will also deviate from the standard fare of what we usually get in an Angry Birds game, and will forego the physics based gameplay for a more sidescrolling endless runner type, which you can check out in all its glory in the video below. The game will probably end up being free, although no exact pricing details have been mentioned so far. Are you looking forward to this game?

Stealth360 Android Wear Watch Face Is As Close As You Can Get To Wearing Tron On Your Wrist

unnamed (4)

Despite having some serious (and apparently isolated) issues with his unit's battery, our fearless leader Artem is thoroughly enjoying his Moto 360 smartwatch. He described the Stealth360 watch face from developer Flying Rhino as, and I quote, "sweet as hell."

unnamed

Stealth360 shies away from some of the more conventional Braun-style designs included with the Moto 360 itself, in favor of something closer to a Razer or Alienware look. (Think Tron, but with a little more restraint.) Despite hands and markers that are designed to look sleek, it's pretty functional as a standard watch, thanks to easy-to-read layout.

Google Shows Off More Of Android Auto's User Interface On The Developer Page

launcher Though Google officially announced Android Auto back at Google I/O, we didn't get to see much of the car initiative at the show itself. A recent update to the Developer.Android.com page shows off a lot more of the system, primarily in how the usual Android apps on a phone interact with a dash unit in a car or truck. The updated page includes screenshots of the app launcher (such as it is), Google Play Music, and some basic menus.
