Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge to start at 889 Euros in Italy

Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge MWC AH 27

We knew that the Galaxy S6 Edge wasn’t going to be cheap, when Samsung announced it. Normally the Galaxy S6 goes for around $550-600 off-contract or unlocked here in the US. And we expected the Galaxy S6 Edge to be about $100 or more, more expensive. While we still don’t have prices for the US. Some prices for Italy have surfaced. If you take a look at the screenshot at the bottom of this post, you’ll see that the Galaxy S6 Edge 32GB is going for 889 Euros and the Galaxy S6 Edge 64GB is going for 999 Euros. Makes you wonder what the 128GB would go for? Translated into US dollars, that’s $964 and $1084 respectively.

The main differences between the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge is the fact that the glass on the Galaxy S6 Edge is curved on both sides (both left and right sides). It’s actually not as awkward as the Galaxy Note 4 Edge was last year. And it actually feels really nice in the hand. It’s almost like holding the HTC One M8 backwards. Samsung has included a bunch of features and software enhancements for the curved display. Including the fact that when your Galaxy S6 Edge is face down on a desk and a call comes in, it will light up a pre-determined color. Which looks really cool.

So looks like we’ve got another thousand dollar smartphone from Samsung this time around. Can’t say I’m shocked. It will be interesting to see what the on-contract price is in the next few weeks when the device launches on April 10th. We should be getting our review unit in hand in the next month or so, and we’ll definitely dive in and bring our readers a ton of coverage on the Galaxy S6 Edge, as you’d expect.

Given these prices, are you still interested in the Galaxy S6 Edge? Or are you going to wait on something else from perhaps LG, Sony, HTC or Motorola? Let us know in the comments below.
