HTC Begins Roll Out Of Android Lollipop For The U.S. Unlocked One M7 Models

HTC One M7 HD AH 19

While most models of the HTC One M8 have already begun getting their updates to Android 5.0 Lollipop, the HTC One M7 has still yet to receive the software upgrade with at least the T-Mobile model scheduled to begin seeing those updates hit as early as tomorrow. It appears things may be starting a day early on HTC’s end though, as they have started to roll out the Android 5.0 Lollipop software OTA to all U.S. unlocked models of the HTC One M7, which for those who are unaware was HTC’s 2013 flagship device. Even though updates for the One M7 appear to be hitting devices as of today, this does not mean all users will receive their software update today.

If you’re on T-Mobile, there is a possibility that T-Mobile variants of the HTC One M7 may not begin getting their updates until tomorrow, which is a likely scenario as they generally aren’t unlocked. However, users who have an unlocked HTC One M7 and are on T-Mobile’s network may begin getting the update to Android Lollipop today. For those who are eagerly waiting for the notification about the software update to hit their status bar, it comes in at nearly 730MB so make sure you have at least 2GB of space left on your device. More than double the space of the update package ensures you have some space left after the update download and install.

It’s also always a good idea to start the update with anywhere between 50% and 75% battery power at least, just in case it takes longer than expected to download the actual software package. Those who haven’t yet received a notification about the update can still check to see if the updates is available manually, which requires the user to navigate to the settings menu of their device, scroll down to about phone, then enter that section and tap on the software updates section and finally tap on the update now button. If the software is available it will show up there and allow the user to update to the newest version of Android, which brings in notable goodies and changes like lockscreen notifications, priority notifications modes, the new recents menu, more vivid use of color and all the Material Design inspired UI tweaks, plus more.
