Xiaomi is well-known for manufacturing affordable handsets. This company’s flagship devices are usually significantly affordable compared to some other similarly-specced flagships on the market. This Chinese smartphone manufacturer is trying to push the price limits it seems, back in December (and a few times after that) we’ve seen some reports that Xiaomi intends to launch a device which will cost around 499 Yuan ($64), but the company didn’t release anything of the sort up until now. Well, now we have some additional information regarding this handset, read on.
A new report coming from China claims that this device will launch at the end of this month, and that it will cost 399 ($64), even less than previously reported. The company still didn’t confirm that they’re working on such a device though, despite a ton of rumors and leaks that have surfaced thus far. A mysterious Leadcore-powered Xiaomi-branded device was certified by TENAA (China’s equivalent to the FCC) a while ago, and this handset actually fits the description. Leadcore SoCs are extremely affordable, so this device might actually be the cheapest Xiaomi-branded device to date. The only question that remains at this point, is if Xiaomi really intends to launch this thing, and if the pricing rumors are accurate.
According to the aforementioned TENAA listing, this device will feature a 4.7-inch 720p (1280 x 720) display along with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of in-built storage. Leadcore’s LC1860C quad-core processor clocked at 1.6GHz will power this handset along with the Mali T628 GPU. Android 4.4.4 KitKat will come pre-installed on this device with Xiaomi’s MIUI OS on top of Google’s operating system, of course. 8-megapixel camera is said to be this device’s main shooter, and a 2-megapixel camera might be located on the front side of this thing.
Take this news with a pinch of salt though, as previously mentioned, Xiaomi did not confirm the existence of this device in any shape or form, so it remains to be seen if it’s real. TENAA listing does give it some credibility though, anyhow, if we stumble upon some additional news regarding all this we’ll let you know, stay tuned.
