Samsung is a company who actively seem to enjoy releasing a whole range of devices. Although, the Galaxy Note series and the Galaxy S series seem to adopt their primary two annual flagship devices, they do still like to release a number of other range devices. One of those which landed last year was the now dubbed “A-series”. These consisted of the announced Galaxy A3, Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A7 devices and came in the form of the first full metal devices offered by Samsung. Well, last month saw the news that it was likely Samsung had full intention of continuing on the A-series of devices due to a number of patents which were filed by the company. These came in the form of patents for the Galaxy A6, Galaxy A8 and Galaxy A9. At the time, very little was known about the newest patented Galaxy A devices besides the fact that Samsung had filed the patents. In fact, at the time, it was still unclear as to whether Samsung would actually do anything with these patents or were simply filing for the sake of filing.
The latest on this is that the Galaxy A8 now looks far more likely to be in the pipeline and en route. So much so, that SamMobile (source link below) are reporting the alleged specs for the device. In terms of what’s rumored to be on offer, the Galaxy A8 (model number SM-A800F) is likely to be the biggest of the A-series, coming loaded with a 5.7-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display. Inside, the Galaxy A8 will come with 2GB RAM and powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 64-bit octa-core processor. In terms of memory, the A8 will come with 16GB internal storage, although there is currently no information as to whether there will be an additional MicroSD card slot or not. In terms of cameras, the A8 is rumored to be equipped with a 16-megapixel rear shooter coupled with a sufficient 5-megapixel front facing option. This is also reported to be an LTE device, running on Android 5.0.1 (Lollipop) and all powered by a 3,050 mAh battery.
So all-in-all, the Galaxy A8 looks set (if the rumored specs are true) to be a decent addition to the A-series. However, if you are thinking about maybe picking one up when it does finally arrive, then it is worth pointing out that the reports also suggest that this will most likely be a China-only offering. Of course, at the moment, these are all just rumored specs with nothing confirmed and therefore, any (or all) specs could possible change.
