Xiaomi is currently the number one smartphone manufacturer in China. The company turned 5 years old today, and their success is an example for many companies in China, and the world actually. China is home to many smartphone OEMs, and you probably know plenty of them. You probably haven’t heard of Gree though, a company which will try to compete with Xiaomi in the near future. This company intends to release a smartphone which will be on par with Xiaomi as build quality goes (if not higher quality) and they do intend to compete with Xiaomi in the price department as well.
We’ve talked about this handset recently, when it leaked during Gree Energy’s press conference. Why is this company so interesting? Well, the president of Gree Energy, Dong Mingzhu, is considered one of the most successful entrepreneurs in that Asian country. Anyhow, this handset has been certified by TENAA a couple of days ago (Gree G0111), and now we have some additional images to share with you. These images surfaced in China recently, and they not only showcase the device itself (which is not clearly pictured though), but its UI as well, which we haven’t seen thus far. You can take a look at the images in the gallery down below if you’d like. We don’t get to see much here, but it seems like Gree will take a similar approach to Xiaomi and Meizu as far as their UI goes and won’t offer a separate app drawer. Judging by these images, the homescreen itself will be an app drawer. Keep in mind that these are only leaked images though, so take all of this with a pinch of salt.
Anyhow, the Gree G0111 will feature a 5-inch 720p (1280 x 720) display along with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD card up to 32GB). This handset will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 410 64-bit octa-core processor which ships with an Adreno 306 GPU for graphics. Android 4.4.4 KitKat will come pre-installed on this device with Gree’s custom UI on top of it. 5-megapixel snapper will be available on the back, and a 2-megapixel shooter will be located on the front side of this handset. We still don’t know how much will this thing cost, but 599 Yuan ($98) has been mentioned several times now.
