Asus Padfone S Plus To Launch In Malaysia Soon For $302, Snapdragon 801 And 3GB Of RAM In Tow

We haven’t heard much from Asus in a while now, but it seems like the company is planning to release a new device soon. I believe you are familiar with the company’s Padfone devices, well, at least one. This China-based company has released a number of Padfone devices since 2012. What is an Asus Padfone? Well, if you purchase this device, you get both a smartphone and a tablet (though the company sometimes sells those separately), but the tablet won’t function on its own. Confused? Well, a tablet is only a shell which needs the smartphone in order to operate, you’ll need to dock the smartphone with a tablet in order to basically use your smartphone on a bigger tablet display.

Anyhow, the company intends to launch a new iteration of their Padfone series, the Padfone S Plus, in Malaysia soon. The company basically took the Padfone S (the international version of the Padfone X) and bumped up its specifications. Let’s take a look at the specs, shall we. The Padfone S Plus features a 5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display along with 3GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor clocked at 2.3GHz is powering on this handset along with an Adreno 330 GPU for graphics. The 13-megapixel camera is located on the back of the Padfone S Plus, and a 2,300mAh battery will ship with this device. Screen size, display, SoC, main camera and the battery remain unchanged here, but Asus did bump up the Padfone S Plus’ RAM and internal storage. The Padfone S sported 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage, compared to the aforementioned specs of the Padfone S Plus.

Asus’ newest Padfone device will be available in Malaysia starting on April 8th. The Padfone S Plus will cost you the equivalent of $302 should you choose to buy it, and the docking station which will turn the phone into a tablet is actually optional, so you don’t get it at this price point. That is definitely something you should keep in mind, most people who purchase the Padfone device buy it because of the dock option.
