One of the features of HTC’s new skin, Sense 7, is the new Home Widget. It sits on your home screen, and some of you may not even know it’s a widget. Basically what it does is it looks at where you are and figures out what apps you use. So when you’re at home, it’ll show you the 6 apps you use most often at home. Same for work and when your out (whether that’s running errands, having fun with friends, etc). The widget actually does work really well. Although my home and work sections look identical. Guess it has issues with people that work from home. There are two other spots in that launcher for downloads and recommended apps. The downloads folder shows you your last 16 downloaded apps. Then the recommended folder shows you a bunch of apps that HTC thinks you’d be interested in. Sometimes those apps are already installed on your phone though. So it’s not perfect.
In this widget, you can pin and unpin apps in the widget. So if you want Spotify to be there all the time, you could pin it inside the widget. You can also unpin apps if you want and even remove them. Removing them is as simple as it’s always been. Just drag it up to the top of the screen where it says “remove” and you’re all done. To pin an app, just long press on it. It’ll show pinning, then it’ll show a pin icon above it. Then you can let it go. If you drop it before you see that icon, it won’t be pinned to the widget. Unpinning it is exactly the same. For those of you that might need some help, we have a short video down below showing you how to unpin and pin apps in the home widget.
It’s a pretty neat widget, but if you’re like me and set in your old ways, you’ll probably just remove the widget and use your HTC One M9 like any other smartphone.
