Huawei has already confirmed that their new flagship, the Huawei P8, will launch on April 15th. This handset has also been certified by TENAA (China’s equivalent to the FCC) already. TENAA’s listing revealed that the device will be powered by Huawei’s HiSilicon Kirin 930 64-bit SoC, but the latest rumor managed to cast some doubt on that fact. The rumor claims that the device will ship with the Kirin 935 on the inside, not the Kirin 930. Anyhow, let’s see what are the differences between these two chips, shall we.
First of all, the Kirin 930 offers quad Cortex A53 cores and quad Cortex A53e cores. The Kirin 930 SoC is a powerful processor, but might not be worthy Huawei’s upcoming flagship, that’s why the Kirin 935 makes somewhat more sense. Anyhow, the Kirin 930 is clocked at 2GHz, while the Kirin 935, on the other hand, runs at 2.2GHz. We don’t have many details about the Kirin 935 at the moment, but it’s supposed to offer better GPU performance as well along with higher clock speeds.
The Huawei P8 will sport a 5.2-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display along with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of in-built storage. This handset will be powered by either the Kirin 930 or Kirin 935 SoC and will ship with Android 5.0 Lollipop pre-installed with Huawei’s Emotion UI on top of Google’s OS. Gorilla Glass protection on top of the P8’s display was also mentioned, and the device will offer 4G LTE connectivity. The fingerprint scanner was also mentioned several times now, and the device is expected to offer premium metal build. The 13-megapixel camera will be located on the back of this handset.
This handset might not be the only one to launch on April 8th though, the Huawei P8 Lite and Huawei Premium Edition might also launch alongside the P8. Both of these handsets have been mentioned recently. The P8 Lite will reportedly sport a lower-res display and less RAM along with some other changes, while the P8 Premium Edition will allegedly offer sapphire glass on both front and back and even more premium build materials. The event will take place on April 8th in China, stay tuned.
