The OnePlus One has become a bit of a white whale for those that have yet to get their hands on an invite, but for the lucky few that have, the device brings a powerful package with a low price and plenty of flexibility.

At the heart of this flexibility is Cyanogenmod 11S, a special version of CM11 that is designed to completely take advantage of the OnePlus One’s hardware. Now a good thing is getting even better as an update packing Android 4.4.4 and plenty of other changes is rolling out in firmware 30O. Some of the biggest changes include a new Clear Image camera feature, a new calibration for the screen and so much more.

Here’s the full change-log:

  • Upgraded to Android 4.4.4

  • Updated to new versions of Google apps

  • Added Clear Image

  • Added new (colder) calibration for the screen

  • Proximity sensor prevents activation of off-screen gestures while in your pocket

  • Capacitive touch keys supported in the recovery mode

  • Increased capacitive button illumination

  • Improved overall stability

  • Fixed issues with vibration being disabled during Quiet Hours

  • Fixed lockscreen not updating the track information during music playback

  • Fixed microphone volume for all formats in the Voice Recorder app

  • Fixed “OK, Google” not triggering voice search in Google Now

  • Fixed Viber calls not working

  • Fixed battery percent not updating in custom lock screens

  • Fixed PicasaSync

  • Fixed Camera “O” gesture activating lockscreen instead of triggering camera

  • Fixed wallpapers not applying in full screen, taking the wrong size when cropping, etc

For those that are interested in the OnePlus One but looking for an experience that differs from CyangonMod, a new “official ROMs” video makes it clear you have plenty of other great options. In the video, OnePlus highlights the following custom ROMs that fully support the phone: SlimKat ROM, Paranoid Android and PAC MAN Rom.

In addition to these officially supported ROMs, a quick look at OnePlus’ forums shows you there are plenty of other unofficially supported choices including pure AOSP, Madhi, Ehndroix, unofficial AOKP and many others.

For those that are looking for a highly customizable Android experience, OnePlus One certainly delivers — if you’re able to get your hands on one, that is. Are you still holding out for a OPO, or have you turned you attention to another handset instead? For those that are lucky enough to have the phone, what ROM are you currently rocking?
