5-inch Moto G2 reportedly shipping on September 10

Motorola Moto G aa 5

The second generation Moto G could be shipping out to retailers in less than a month, according to a new report.

That’s the gist of a GSM Arena story based on the words of a Motorola representative, via an anonymous source inside a retailer. The report confirms the 5-inch screen size of the new Moto G and attaches a price tag of €250 to the device. For comparison, the original 8GB Moto G costs €157 on Amazon Germany, while the LTE version, released in May, costs €199 at the same retailer. It’s not clear from GSM Arena’s report what configuration of the Moto G2 will cost €250.

The device will ship to most retailers from September 10, though the report notes that some outlets may get stock in advance.

The report confirms a benchmark sighting from last week, putting the screen size at 5-inch, with a resolution of 720p. The Moto G2 (Motorola could also use the Moto G+1 branding) will feature a Snapdragon 400 processor, 1GB of RAM, and storage starting from 8GB. LTE and a microSD card slot seem safe bets, though both features lacked from the original Moto G, released in November 2013.

With IFA 2014 around the corner, the German tech show may seem a good occasion for the G2′s debut. However, Motorola has held its own standalone events over the past couple of years, so we wouldn’t be surprised to see the G2 come out before IFA, maybe alongside the Moto X+1 and the Moto 360.
