Samsung Galaxy Alpha makes a splash at Russian yachting event

We think sometime this week Samsung is going to officially take the wraps off their new Samsung Galaxy Alpha smartphone, their attempt at producing a metal-bodied device. Over the weekend images surfaced showing Samsung was involved in a Russian yachting event that included some significant Galaxy Alpha advertising materials. Signage and banners were present and it even appears Samsung paid to have the event name include their latest device. At least one of the photos shows some of the attendees posing with what is presumably the Galaxy Alpha.

Although Samsung seems to be testing the waters of metal-bodied construction of smartphones with the Galaxy Alpha, they do not appear to be concerned with making the rest of the device premium in nature based on recent leaks. The screen is a 4.7-inches and runs at 720p resolution. An octa-core processor of some type is expected to be present, but that will likely be joined with only 2GB of RAM. While a 32GB version was fairly well-established, sources indicate a 64GB variant will also be produced. However, Samsung has also decided to not include a microSD slot for memory expansion. From an appearance standpoint, Samsung seems to be heavily influenced by Apple design concepts.

Are you looking forward to an announcement about the Samsung Galaxy Alpha?
