LG has put the volume rocked and power button on the back of the LG G3, just like with the LG G2, but it’s actually a bit easier to use now. But the volume rocker can do a bit more than just change the volume on your phone. Long pressing the volume down button will wake up your LG G3, and open up the camera. Making it pretty easy to get right into the camera when you want to take a picture quickly. The volume up button brings you into the QuickMemo+ app – which is also another way to take a screenshot on the LG G3.
While these shortcuts are great, it would be even better if we could customize these to do what we want. But instead we’re stuck with either turning these shortcuts on or off. And that’s a bit surprising given how customizable everything else is in LG’s skin, even down to the icons in the launcher. I’d love to be able to change the volume up button to something else, as I really don’t use the QuickMemo+ feature on the LG G3. Hopefully LG is reading this and will make that change in an upcoming OTA for the LG G3.
That said, it’s still great to be able to quickly jump into the camera by long-pressing the volume down button. Especially when you wan to capture something quickly. How many of you have stumbled into this by mistake, you know mistakenly long pressing the volume button and to find out that your camera was turned on? Let us know in the comments down below.
