At IFA 2014 today, Lenovo officially released two new smartphones from their Vibe line of devices. The Lenovo Vibe X2 and the Lenovo Vibe Z2 will be hitting store shelves in China, Asia Pacific, Eastern Europe and the Middle East in October. The Vibe X2 will retail for $399 USD while the Vibe Z2 will retail for $429.

The Vibe X2 is “the world’s first layered smartphone” as we saw in some leaked photos. The device is powered by a MediaTek MT6595 octa-core processor running a 2.0 GHz, supports 4G LTE, and has a 5-inch screen running at 1920 x 1080 resolution. The Vibe X2 has 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory. Lenovo gave the device a 13MP rear-facing camera and a 5MP front-facing camera. The unit is powered by a 2300mAh battery. Lenovo includes their custom VIBE UI 2.0 interface on top of Android 4.4 KitKat. Along with the device, Lenovo is also making a couple accessories available, including a battery and a speaker, that can be attached via a Vibe Xtension. The Vibe Xtension effectively creates a fourth layer for the device. The Vibe X2 will be available in white, red, gold and dark grey.

If you are looking for even more power, Lenovo offers the Vibe Z2, the company’s first 64-bit smartphone thanks to the Snapdragon 401 processor. The Vibe Z2 comes with a 5.5-inch screen running at 1280 x 720 resolution, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal memory, support for 4G LTE, a 3,000 mAh battery and runs Android 4.4 KitKat. With the 64-bit capable Snapdragon processor, the phone will be ready to be upgraded to Google’s Android L operating system. Lenovo gave the Vibe Z2 a 13MP rear camera that includes optical image stabilization and is built around a Sony Exmor BSI sensor. The front-facing camera is an 8MP shooter, helping Lenovo position the device in the “selfie” capable market. The Vibe Z2 gets a brushed metal treatment for its unibody design and will come in White, Titanium and Gold colors.

“The VIBE X2 offers consumers a smartphone that’s as unique as they are, starting with its three layer color gradient design that looks as beautiful as it feels in the hand,” said Colin Giles, senior vice president, worldwide sales, Mobile Business Group, Lenovo.
