China is not the only country which has quite a few smartphone manufacturers, India’s here as well. Xolo is an Indian smartphone brand which is somewhat new, they opened up shop in 2012 and are already making some decent smartphones. This company has just launched yet another affordable handset called Xolo One. Despite the fact it carries the “One” in its name, this is not an Android One handset. The device sports a 4.5-inch FWVGA (854 x 840) IPS OGS display and comes with 1GB of RAM for multitasking and 8GB of internal storage which is expandable via microSD card up to 32GB. The device is powered by MediaTek’s MT6582M quad-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz which comes with Mali-400 GPU for graphics processing. On the back of this thing you’ll find a 5-megapixel shooter which is flanked by an LED flash, there’s also a secondary 0.3-megapixel VGA camera located up front. The device ships with Android 4.4 KitKat operating system though Xolo did promise it will get Android 5.0 Lollipop in the future. This is a dual-SIM capable, 3G HSPA+ device and it comes with Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and of course 3.5mm audio jack and FM Radio. The device sports a 1700mAh battery which should take care of powering on your device until the end of the day.
The device doesn’t come with on-screen buttons as you can see on the image above, it has capacitive buttons below the screen. Xolo One comes in black, white and red colors and will cost you INR 6,599 if you want to get one. INR 6,599 is about $107, which is really affordable no matter which way you spin this. Xolo One won’t break any records as far as specifications, performance or design goes, but you can’t expect it to for this price. Android 5.0 Lollipop is inbound and that’s a great thing, as long as Xolo keeps to its promise. India really does get lots of appealing devices lately, Google launched their Android One devices over there recently, Motorola sent their offerings there as well and so will Samsung. Indian consumers will have a lot of options when it comes to purchasing smartphones, tablet and / or wearables in the coming weeks / months.
