Today Lenovo unveiled the latest members of its Yoga family, the Yoga 2 (8 and 10-inch models) and Yoga 2 Pro. As you’d expect from a Yoga device, the latest three tablets see the return of a unique form factor with an integrated kickstand that offers various modes of operation.
In the past, there were just three modes: hold for better reading angles, tilt for easy browsing and stand for close up content. The latest offerings add a fourth mode to the mix, dubbed hang. Simply put, when in this special mode you can actually hang any of the Yoga 2 tablets from walls and other objects.
Aside from looks, the biggest difference between these models are the size and specs.
Yoga 2 8 and 10-inch
While most Android devices tend to be powered by Qualcomm, Mediatek and Nvidia processors, we’re starting to see a growing number of tablets turn to Intel for their chips. Both the Yoga 2 8-inch and 10-inch model are powered by an Intel Atom Z3745 running at 1.86 GHz and paired with 2GB RAM.
It’s not just the processor that is the same between the 8 and 10.1-inch models. In fact, the only real difference is display size, with both the 8-inch and 10.1-inch versions sporting a resolution of 1920×1200.

As you can see in the chart above, this is certainly a decently spec’d device that should be more than capable of delivering a solid Android experience. Coupled with a unique kickstand, this is sure to be a tablet that stands out from the crowd.
Yoga 2 Pro
While the Yoga 2 Pro shares some of the same specs and the basic overall design as the 8-inch and 10-inch standard models, there are some pretty big differences. First and foremost, the Pro has a built-in Pico projector that sets it apart from other tablets out there on the market.
Thanks to the projector, you can take the content (apps, movies, you name it) from your tablet and project it onto a wall or projection screen. While this doesn’t provide a full HD experience, the projector does offer a resolution of 854×480 and is paired with a premium JBL sound system and a subwoofer.
The second killer feature for the Yoga 2 Pro is its 13-inch IPS display with a QHD resolution (2560 x 1440), which should provide a killer experience for watching movies, playing games and so much more.

As you can see in the chart above, the rest of the specs aren’t too different from the Pro’s Yoga 2 brothers, with the same Intel Atom CPU and 2GB RAM. That said, there is 32GB of storage built-in and a few other spec boosts.
Pricing and availability
The Yoga 2 in 8-inch and 10-inch variants will arrive to Lenovo’s website starting October 9th for $299.99 and $249.99 respectively. For those interested in the pro model, you’ll need to pony up $499.99. No word on exactly when the Pro will arrive, other than “early October”.
