Google Nexus 9: What kind of storage will it have?

HTC-Volantis-leak-Nexus-9-630x472

The Nexus 9 is almost upon us, and it’s been over a year since the last time we had a Nexus tablet. The last was the Nexus 7 (2013) and that was in August of 2013. So we’re getting a bit anxious here. We’ve already pretty much confirmed that NVIDIA and HTC are working together with Google for the Nexus 9 tablet. So it’s going to have the Tegra K1 processor inside. But what about storage? That’s important as well. With the Nexus 7 and Nexus 10 tablets that Google has put out with ASUS and Samsung, respectively, we’ve seen 16GB and 32GB (except for the first gen Nexus 7 which had 8GB and 16GB, which later was changed to just 16GB and 32GB).

So what we’re thinking for the Nexus 9 is that we’re going to see a 16GB and a 32GB model. Now I’d love to see a 64GB model, and really hope we do. But with the Nexus 9 having the Tegra K1 chip inside, I have a feeling Google is going to cheap on out on something to try and keep the price down as NVIDIA’s chips are not cheap, at all. I think I’d be fine with 32GB for a tablet, especially if it has USB OTG, so I could hook up a 1TB external drive, if needed.

We’ll be talking more about the Nexus 9 over the next few weeks. So make sure you stay tuned to Android Headlines for all the details.
