The New Defency Is Hanmac’s Newest Luxury Handset For The Chinese Market Priced Above $3,000

We often refer to smartphones as low, mid or high-end devices, that’s because most of the consumer-friendly devices can be categorized that way. There are, of course, some handsets that don’t belong in either of these categories, and those are luxury devices. There are brands which manufacture luxury devices only, which are specialized in releasing such devices. We’ve seen a significant amount of such devices over the last couple of years, brands like Vertu, Gresso, Dior… have all released their very own smartphones which cost way too much for the regular consumer.

Hanmac, another such brand which specializes in luxury smartphones, decided to release two new handsets and sell them in the Chinese market. This France-based company has announced that Range and New Defency handset will be available in China. The Range handset is actually a feature phone, the New Defency is much more interesting to us. The New Defency offers a rather odd post-modern design and includes metal build, while engravings are also a part of the package here. It’s kind of hard to explain the design here, it would be best if you check the images in the gallery down below and see what the phone looks like.

This thing features sapphire glass on top of its display and the buttons are ceramic. On the front, you’ll find a 3.5-inch 800 x 480 display (266 PPI) along with a 3-megapixel camera and the usual array of sensors, while a 13-megapixel camera is located on the back of this thing. This handset is powered by MediaTek’s MT6589 quad-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz and it ships with a 1,440mAh battery. Android 4.2 JellyBean comes pre-installed on this device and you also get 2GB of RAM as part of the package. 64GB of internal storage comes with this device as well, though it seems it’s not expandable, at least it doesn’t say so in the listing.

As you can see, we’re not talking about admirable specs here, especially considering the price of this thing. This handset is all about luxury and prestige if you will, as are all other luxury smartphones which are priced above and beyond anything regular consumers would be willing to pay. The base price of the New Defency is $3,100, though you can add some customization on it, which will cost extra, of course.
