OnePlus One OTA Update (CM11S05Q) Begins Rolling Out With SwiftKey And MaxxAudio Integration

There has been a lot of talk over the last few weeks and months over the Android 5.0 (Lollipop) update for the OnePlus One. Will it come from Cyanogen with their newest Lollipop variant, CM12? Will it come with OnePlus’s own homegrown ROM, OxygenOS? Well, in short, yes, both will be available. In fact, CM12 for the OnePlus One is available as we speak, albeit as a nightly (experimental) version. That said, the stable version won’t be too far away. In terms of OxygenOS, this also seems to be imminently due to be released with the ROM expected to be properly unveiled (if not released) on February 12th, which is only days away now.

However, in the meantime and for those OnePlus One owners who need an update right now then luckily for you OnePlus have began rolling out an update to the One. This is of course only an Android 4.4 (KitKat) update, but an update is still an update. The current OTA in progress update is bookmarked as CM11S05Q and is in the process of rolling out as we speak. If you have not seen the update land then don’t worry, you will in due course over the next couple of days and hours.

So what’s on offer? Well, there is of course, a whole ton of bug fixes and performance upgrades as you would expect with any update. That said, this one does come with a few new features as well. It was recently reported that OnePlus had done a deal with Swiftkey to make it the default keyboard launcher on the One. Well, this is the update which brings that partnership to your device. As such you will see the SwiftKey integration take effect after the update. In addition, this update also brings the highly awaited integration of the MaxxAudio features we heard about last month. Not to mention, as well as the more basic bug fixes, there are also more awaited primary bug fixes and updates for CameraNext, GalleryNext, Clock, Dialer and File Manager. So although, not Lollipop, it is still a fairly decent update. Once your device receives the update make sure to let us know what you think of the changes, Swiftkey and MaxxAudio.
