As we’re waiting for more information regarding LG’s upcoming flagship, the G4, some information popped up regarding one of LG’s low-mid range handset. I don’t know if you recall the LG F70 handset which launched in February 2014, that thing featured a 4.5-inch 800 x 480 display, 1GB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage (only 1.5GB was available to the user though, unfortunately). Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz was powering on that handset and the device offered 5 and 0.3-megapixel cameras on its back and front, respectively. As you can see, this was LG’s entry-level offering, and considering a year has passed since that device launched, we were expecting some info regarding its successor.
Well, that info arrived, courtesy of Zauba, Indian import-export website. The LG Y70 model popped up in their documentation and it arrived in India from South Korea on February 5th. This handset features a 4.7-inch display and it comes with Android 5.0 Lollipop pre-installed. The timeframe seems just right and the screen-size seems spot on as well. The listing also says that this handset has been shipped to India for testing purposes, so we have no idea when will it launch, but considering that the last year’s model launched in February, I guess we won’t be waiting for long.
We don’t have any info regarding this device specs other than the aforementioned screen size and operating system, but we can always guess what will its specs be. I believe this handset will once again ship with 1GB of RAM and that it will come with at least 8GB of internal storage. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 400 or 410 SoC will power it on, and we can expect either the 5 or 8-megapixel camera to be located at the back of this handset. LG might opt for a higher screen resolution this time around, I expect a 720p display on there, probably one of company’s OGS panels. You can expect LG to build this thing out of plastic, of course. That’s it, I just hope that LG will get the pricing right, this is an entry-level handset and its price should definitely reflect that.
