You might remember TDK more as one of those companies who you could buy black audio cassettes (remember them) and blank VHS cassettes (remember them too) from. Well, that’s who they were but as the times have changed, so have TDK and today they stand as a very different company indeed. In fact, this is one of the benefits of CES as we get to see a lot of names you might have forgot even existed, just to find out they are alive, well and actually coming out with some neat stuff.
Enter, the TDK Trek Flex speaker. OK, in fairness this is not exactly the same TDK as you used to pick up those VHS tapes from. Instead, the TDK brand (we used to know) was picked up by Imation and became a high-quality headphones and audio equipment company known as TDK Life on Record. This TDK were present at CES and have today at the event announced their latest innovative speaker system. This is (as already mentioned) known as the TDK Trek Flex speaker. In very short terms, the Trek Flex is cylinder shock-resistant and sound enhancing speaker.
In slightly more longer terms, the Trek Flex is a cylinder speaker which offers users surround sound from its two full-range speakers contained within the cylindrical chassis. If you are not too keen on full-range speakers and prefer a more powerful bass then you will want to know that additional enhanced bass is added to the mix by “virtual subwoofer technology”. This is provided by MaxxBass by Waves. In addition to its rather jazzy looks, the Trek Flex is also shock-resistant and as such can be treated as a more durable product. The speaker also offers wireless connection via Bluetooth and the ability to change tracks via the built-in controls. Not forgetting the battery is also rechargeable so that you can keep going, when on-the-go. If you are thinking about picking one up then the Tek Flex will be available in the US during Q1 of 2015 and the expected retail price will be $129.95. So what do you think? Let us know.
