Boost Mobile is one of the more popular, prepaid options out there. They are part of Virgin Mobile who are both owned by Sprint. And up until late last year, they had been #1 in prepaid for years and years. Then a little uncarrier came in and dethroned them. But that hasn’t stopped Boost Mobile from being competitive and bringing more phones to their lineup. Today, they announced the Samsung Galaxy Prevail LTE to their growing lineup of smartphones. This will replace the Galaxy Prevail 2, which is beginning to become a bit dated. Boost Mobile will have the Samsung Galaxy Prevail LTE on January 19th, and it’ll cost you about $129.99. Now remember that’s the full price of this smartphone, since Boost is a prepaid carrier, they don’t do subsidies and contracts.
The Samsung Galaxy Prevail LTE features a 4.5-inch display, running on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor which is clocked at about 1.2GHz, and there’s also 1GB of RAM. Samsung also has 8GB of internal storage along with a 5MP camera on the back and a 2MP front-facing shooter. Additionally, it’s running KitKat with Samsung’s latest version of Touchwiz on top.
So while this is not a top-of-the-line smartphone from Samsung – many were expecting them to announce the Galaxy S6 this week. It’s still a pretty decent offering from Samsung and Boost Mobile. It’ll likely be available on Virgin Mobile soon as well. Boost Mobile has some pretty decent plans too, ranging from $35 to $55. All three plans offer unlimited talk and text. Their $35 plan comes with 1GB of high-speed data, $45 plan has 5GB of high-speed data and their $55 plan has 10GB of high-speed data. After you hit those caps, your data will be slowed down to EDGE speeds. So technically it is unlimited data.
