KGI: Xiaomi Could Ship Up To 15 Million Mi Note Handsets By The End Of 2015

Xiaomi managed to sell over 61 million smartphone in 2014, which is really impressive for a company which was founded back in 2010 and which sold “only” 19 million handsets in 2013. The Redmi 1S and Redmi Note were the most sought-after devices from the company last year, which is understandable considering these two handsets are extremely affordable and do offer a lot for the price. This China-based smartphone OEM intends to move 100 million devices this year, which is really optimistic and it will be interesting to see if they can actually pull it off.

The company has already introduced three handsets this year, the Redmi 2, Mi Note and Mi Note Pro. All of these handsets will play a huge part in Xiaomi’s sales in 2015, no doubt, and we’re still in January, who knows what else is Xiaomi planning for the rest of the year. According to Focus Taiwan, which quoted the consulting firm KGI Investment Advisory, the company might ship 13 to 15 million Mi Note handsets this year. This would certainly be impressive, especially if you consider that Xiaomi doesn’t sell their devices internationally, they’re more or less Asia-only company at the moment.

The Xiaomi Mi Note and Mi Note Pro look basically the same on the outside, but there are some significant differences on the inside. The Mi Note model features a 5.7-inch 1080p display, 3GB of RAM and is powered by the Snapdragon 801 SoC. The Mi Note Pro, on the other hands, sports a 5.7-inch quadHD display, 4GB of RAM and the Snapdragon 810 chip is powering it. The rest of the specs are basically the same, except for the small difference in battery size. 13-megapixel camera (Sony IMX214 BSI sensor) is the rear-facing shooter in both of these handsets, and a 4-megapixel snapper (2um pixel size) is the dedicated front-facer in both of them as well. The Mi Note is currently available for reservations in China in 16 and 64GB variants, and will go on sale on January 27. The Mi Note Pro will quite probably become available in March, at least according to the latest report.

That being said, do you think that Xiaomi can sell 15 million Mi Note handsets and do you think that they’ll be able to move 100 million units this year in general?
