This morning, Virgin Mobile debuted some new plans. There is one that is as low as $20/month. It includes 300 minutes and unlimited texts. But you are limited to just WiFi data. For $35/month you get unlimited talk with 250MB of data, throttled afterwards, or you can choose 300 minutes with unlimited text and 2.5GB of data and throttled after that. At $45 you can get unlimited talk and text with 1GB of high-speed data, throttled down to 2G afterwards, or for $55 you can get unlimited talk and text with 3GB of high-speed data. Again it’s throttled after you hit that cap.
These are not bad deals at all from Virgin Mobile. And it’s nice to see prepaid carriers really stepping up and putting out even cheaper plans. Just recently, T-Mobile’s CEO John Legere, announced that T-Mobile is now the #1 prepaid carrier in the country. Beating out Sprint’s Virgin Mobile and Boost Mobile. Who had held that title for years and years. So it’s clear that they want it back. And are looking to cut prices if need be. Virgin Mobile and Boost Mobile both have some pretty nice phones, like the HTC Desire 816, among others.
If you’re looking for international rates, Virgin Mobile also has you covered:
“Virgin Mobile’s new international offers let you stay connected with family and friends across the globe. For just $5 more a month, customers can add-on Virgin Mobile International which includes Unlimited calls to Mexico2 and Canada (excludes northern territories), as well as Unlimited worldwide text messaging. For just $10 more a month, customers can get all the benefits of International + which include 1,000 minutes to call mobile devices in Mexico, Unlimited calling to over 70 countries3 and discounted calling rates to over 200 countries.”
It’s great to see Virgin Mobile really competing with the likes of T-Mobile and Cricket. How many of you are thinking about switching over to Virgin Mobile?
