Rumor: Vertu-Made Tonino Lamborghini Antares Luxury Smartphone On Its Way To China

In case you still haven’t heard of Vertu, this is a British company which was established by Nokia back in 1998. Vertu is a manufacturer and retailer of luxury mobile phones, so it is quite possible you haven’t heard of them just yet. Their products aren’t exactly meant for the general consumers considering they price them extremely, extremely high. Vertu already partnered with Bentley in July this year in order to bring forth some Bentley / Vertu branded products and there was even some talk about a Vertu wearable. Before that this company made a Vertu Porche smartphone, two of them in fact.

Vertu partnered up with Lamborghini in order to make a smartphone for that Italian exotic car manufacturer. Tonino Lamborghini Antares was first introduced back in November last year and it seems this device has found its way to China now. As far as its specifications go, this device sports a 4-inch 960 x 540 display along with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage (expandable via MicroSD card up to 32GB). The phone is powered by MediaTek’s quad-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz. On the back of this device, you can find a 13-megapixel camera while there’s a 5-megapixel snapper up front. Android 4.2 is pre-installed on this device and the device itself is made out of stainless steel and artificial leather.

Price? Well, it’s relatively low. Just kidding of course, this device is priced at 28,200 Yuan, which is around $4,600. I never understood these luxury phones, I have to be honest. The phone itself looks awful in my opinion, its specs aren’t even high-end and it even uses rather ordinary build materials. Branding means a lot, Vertu sure won’t sell tons of these devices but I’m sure there are people who are ready to buy something like this, otherwise Vertu wouldn’t be manufacturing such devices. Anyhow, it’s not confirmed just yet, but according to reports, this device will be available in China rather soon and priced at 28,200 Yuan, as I mentioned above. Have you ever handled a Vertu device in the past and would you ever consider buying a device like this? I have to be honest and say I wouldn’t consider getting one of these even if I had tons of cash, there’s just nothing on it that appeals to me.
