Samsung’s metallic Galaxy A5 leaks in pictures, more details on A3 as well

We’ve heard quite a lot about Samsung’s upcoming A series of mid-range devices that incorporate metal in their design. The latest credible leak surfaced just yesterday, thanks to the certification documents published by China’s telecom overseer. The leak included a few images of the SM-A500, but they were too low-res to let us make an accurate impression.

Thankfully, Sam Mobile’s sources have come through once again – according to the website, the SM-A500 will actually be marketed as Galaxy A5, and, while its frame seems to be metallic, it’s not clear yet whether the actual body of the device will be made of plastic, metal, or something else. The source was only able to specify that the material feels cold in the hand, a characteristic we often attribute to metal.

As for the specs? The Galaxy A5 will reportedly pack a Snapdragon 400, a 5-inch HD super AMOLED display, a 13MP rear cam, 5MP front cam, 16GB storage, a 2330 mAh battery and Android KitKat with the latest version of TouchWiz. As you can see, it’s not exactly a powerhouse but the specs are fairly reasonably (as long as the price is lower) and the device certainly looks quite beautiful based on the leaked shots of the device.

Of course, the Galaxy A5 is just one of the members of the Alpha family with several more reportedly on their way. In fact, the lowest-end member of the A family has now been spotted in a UAProf on Samsung’s mobile website, the SM-A300.

According to the ‘leak’ the handset has a Snapdragon 410, an Adreno 306 GPU, and a screen resolution of 540 x 950. Earlier benchmarks highlight the rest of the specs, which include an 8MP rear cam, 5MP front cam, 1GB RAM, a 4.8-inch display and 8GB storage. It’s also supposed to offer up KitKat with TouchWiz. As you can see, the handset is certainly lower-end than the A5, though oddly enough it has a newer 410 CPU over the Snapdragon 400 found in the Galaxy A5.
