Google Nexus 6 / X: How big will the Battery Be?

battery

The Nexus lineup has historically had pretty small batteries compared to other flagships on the market, and have also had horrible battery life because of that. Well not primarily because of the battery size, but it was a big reason why. The Nexus 5 had a 2300mAh battery, and the Nexus 5 was modeled after the LG G2, which had a 3000mAh battery. So it’s clear that Google could have packed in a larger battery, but decided to cheap out on it, and the Nexus 5 has been suffering from that. So what will we see in the Nexus 6? Will we see a nice 3000mAh battery inside? Well I sure hope so.

I’ve been using the Moto X for a few weeks now, and that’s the one that the Nexus 6 is supposed to be modeled after. It has a 5.2-inch display along with that same 2300mAh battery from the Nexus 5. And it actually has been lasting me all day. Now mind you it’s not going to get you 5-6 hours on screen time. But I’ve been able to get 4 hours along with 16 hours off the charger. So it does do better than the Nexus 5 does (without root of course). But we want more than that right?

Hopefully Motorola and Google do decide to put a nice sized battery into the Nexus 6 this year. I’d love to see a 3000mAh battery inside this years model. How about the rest of you?
