Tomorrow’s the day that John Legere has been waiting months for. He’s been on Twitter all week long excited about his Uncarrier 5.0 event Tomorrow which takes place in Seattle. We had heard that the event would talk about simplified billing. Basically what it looks like is T-Mobile is adopting the European billing that O2, Vodafone, Deutsche Telekom and others use over there. Basically meaning that all the taxes and fees that you get charged each month would be included in your rate plan. So instead of having a $70 plan and getting a bill of upwards of about $90, you’ll have just that a $70 bill. T-Mobile is also getting rid of prorated charges. Typically when you open a new line of service with T-Mobile your first bill is about 6 weeks worth of service since you are paying for a month ahead of time. T-Mobile is also starting your EIP on your first bill. In the past you’d start getting charged from the third billing period, but that’s changing, so you can pay off your phone even quicker.
Now there are some new images coming out of TmoNews today showcasing the Simplified Billing that we should be seeing at Uncarrier 5.0 tomorrow. These images do indeed show what we’ve been talking about over the past week or so, and it’s something I’m excited to see. It’s also something I hope the rest of the carriers adopt in the near future. The images are a bit small, but you can see them down below if you’re interested. I’m sure Legere and his crew will have more to announce tomorrow. We’ll likely see an update on their 4G LTE network and their VoLTE network which is live in Seattle and San Francisco right now.
How many of you are excited to see what pain points John Legere is looking to eliminate with Uncarrier 5.0 tomorrow in Seattle? Let us know in the comments below.
