Nvidia’s focus on gaming and Auto integration moving forward in the Android and computing space with their graphics rich processors, may be manifesting itself in a new and unannounced tablet that appears to have popped up over at the FCC. Among the many things that Nvidia is working on with mobile and Android, there are rumors of the Nvidia Shield 2 being in the works. They are also continuing to develop and ready their next generation of mobile processors that they unveiled at CES back in January, the Tegra K1 CPU in both 32-bit and 64-bit models. We’ll likely see these processors in a few devices coming up, for the most part though anything carrying these chips will probably be limited to gaming tablets and other gaming handhelds(like the Shield 2 for example).
The FCC documents don’t mention any detail on what type of processor may be on the inside but since it’s being manufactured by Nvidia who also makes the Tegra K1 CPU, we can imagine that something which is barely making the rounds at the FCC has a good chance of coming equipped with a next generation Nvidia chip inside. The tablet in question is labeled as the P1761W, which isn’t much to go off of but that’s OK. This is likely just the internal model number reference. There are a few key details to note but nothing that will give away exactly what we’re looking at, or if it’s something that will actually see mass production and reach store shelves. For now this is just a possible upcoming device from Nvidia but it’s exciting all the same, especially for Nvidia fans.
The tablet is listed with labels for different regions, which suggests that Nvidia is looking at multiple launch locations, and more than likely on a global scale. The labels refer to North America, Europe and International versions. The FCC document does reveal that the tablet device(also referred to in one section as a tablet PC)supports Bluetooth 4.0 LE, and of course features WiFi 802.11n which is in most devices that will need internet connectivity these days. Until we get some more details about this particular tablet device we can only assume at what it might be, and there are two major potential possibilities, which are the second generation of the Tegra Note tablet, or a completely new tablet device from Nvidia we haven’t heard of yet.
