Xiaomi’s Budget Leadcore-Powered Smartphone To Land On April 8th

Xiaomi has been known to push the limits when it comes to smartphone pricing. This company has been really aggressive when it comes to pricing for a long time now, and that’s part of their success. Their high-end devices are usually priced lower than they realistically should be, compared to the majority of other brands that is. The company has released quite a few smartphones this year already, including the mid-range Redmi 2 handset, and their two new flagships, the Mi Note and Mi Note Pro.

The company was also rumored to release a Leadcore-powered extremely affordable handset, which also got certified by TENAA (China’s equivalent to the FCC) a while back, but that hasn’t happened just yet. Xiaomi’s CEO said that the company won’t release a 399 Yuan ($64) smartphone, which was the rumored price of the aforementioned smartphone. He did not say anything about releasing a Leadcore-powered smartphone which will be really affordable though. That being said, a China Mobile executive released an interesting photo about a week ago, allegedly showcasing the aforementioned device. A new rumor came in from China saying that this handset will launch on April 8th. This Leadcore-powered smartphone will reportedly be priced at $80, which is also quite appealing.

According to TENAA’s listing, this handset will feature a 4.7-inch 720p (1280 x 720) display along with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD card). Leadcore’s LC1860 quad-core processor clocked at 1.6GHz will power on this handset along with Mali T628 GPU for graphics. 13-megapixel camera will be located on the back of this device, and a 2-megapixel snapper will be available up front for selfies and video calls. Android 4.4.4 KitKat will quite probably come pre-installed on this device, with Xiaomi’s MIUI OS on top of Google’s operating system, of course. There you have it folks, April 8th is not that far away, we’ll find out whether this rumor is real or not really soon. As a side note, Xiaomi is turning 5 years old tomorrow, and the company will definitely announce some new products, stay tuned for that.
