Huawei is doing a great job when it comes to hardware manufacturing. The company has announced a number of really solid offerings last year, and has continued doing so this year as well when they announced the Huawei Watch back at MWC (Mobile World Congress). This Chinese smartphone manufacturer will announce the P8 handset next month, and while we wait for that announcement, a couple of images leaked in Russia showing off a mysterious Huawei-branded device.
If you take a look at the gallery down below, you’ll notice quite a few images. As you can see, this device has virtually no bezel on the sides, much like the recently leaked LeTV X900 handset. The device looks quite nice because of it, and actually looks a lot like the Huawei Honor 6 Plus which was released at the end of last year. The back side is quite similar to the Honor 6 Plus, this device even has the Duo Camera setup like the 6 Plus. The front, however, is completely different. The bezels are far slimmer here, and it seems like this handset has capacitive buttons below the display, which is really odd for Huawei. This Chinese smartphone OEM has been including on-screen buttons on their Android device for quite some time now, and this just seems odd. The back side of this device also reveals the “Honor” branding, which means this is definitely not the upcoming Huawei P8 smartphone.
Furthermore, the leak also says that this handset will feature a 5-inch display and that it will be powered by a 64-bit octa-core processor, quite probably Huawei’s Kirin 930 SoC. Two 13-megapixel shooters are also mentioned (rear facing), and a 5-megapixel snapper will reportedly be available on the front side of the device. Android 5.0 Lollipop will come pre-installed on this device with Huawei’s Emotion UI on top of it. We really don’t know which device we’re looking at here, and it’s really odd this leak appeared in Russia of all places. The report also states that this handset will cost somewhere between 13,000 and 15,000 rubles ($223-$257), which is also interesting. Looking at this price, you’d think we’re looking at a mid-range handset, and yet its design looks somewhat high-end.
